I can't help it, but I've fallen in love with Shakira. The way she dances in the "Don't Bother" video...

Drooooll...

I also LOVE "Miss Independent" by Kelly Clarkson. Crappy verses, but a killer hook.

Because of my childrens age (8 and 5) I find myself not only listening, but liking all sorts of unfathomable music.

I catch myself tapping my foot to all this disney remade stuff. Ugh...

Jesus, fuck "don't bother". Check out the video for La Tortura. My girlfriend is desperate to move her hips like that... uh... whilst dancing. As for the whole chest-pumping thing...

Madonna's "Hung Up." I do not like dance music and I have not liked Madonna for a long time -- her appeal dried up about the time Bean was born. "Hung up," though, is a killer, even with the Abba sample. As I said somewhere else, it would get me on the floor to do the "pathetic white boy dance" for five minutes.

Whilst searching I found this video of a woman dancing to "La Tortura." She's not as graceful as Shakira, but I can handle that. Too bad it's murky.

Lugz, that takes a colossal amount of self-awareness, insight, and a boatload of a little thing we call 'courage'. It's easy for others to cop to a Shakira or Madonna fixation...that can always be chalked up to hormones and forgiven...but to cop to Phil Collins el lobo solo...you've definitely got a pair, and I'll follow you into battle.

Thank you for truly taking this thread to heart and helping empower more of us. Thanks to your brave lead, I am able to admit:

I really dig Hall and Oates, and also think there isn't a single bad track on Rick Springfield's Greatest Hits. In fact, I dare say it kicks ass...check out 'Celebrate Youth' and see for yourself.

Me too...*sigh*.

I still have nostalgic love for a lot of the 80's and early 90's hair band metal. Every time I hear Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue or Youth Gone Wild by Skid Row I want to snort some coke, down a bottle of JD and have sex with some young woman with loose morals and gigantic hair.

Hall and Oates, at their peak, were fantastic. There was a great Doonesbury cartoon in the early '80s with a character visiting Zimbabwe (I think) to look at refugee camps. At one point his government bigwig minder says that the country had planned to celebrate the tenth anniversary of liberation by having Hall and Oates -- "whom we consider your greatest black band".

Crue is good too - never really got into Ratt though - i guess there's only so much 80's hair metal you can take... now bon jovi - he was the pinnacle of the 80's fun-rock... he set the bar for the others to try and limp under...

I know that most people think that country music sucks, but there's a style of country called Texas Country, and it has guys like Charlie Robison, Jason Boland, and Roger Creager.

The songs are more about smoking weed, getting drunk as hell, fucking chicks and killing folks (most of the time, in that order). Plus, it talks alot about places and things in Texas, which I can relate to. It's to country music what gansta rap is to hip-hop. It just kicks so much ass, I can't help but listen.
