The Return of The Replacements

I don't know how many of you all have ever been into these guys, but for me, they epitomize everything rock and roll was supposed to be about...

While this is just a couple of songs, the animosity that existed among the members upon breaking up was enough that I assumed these guys would forever stay gone. This news guaranteed me a good deal of happiness for the next two or three months....

I liked The Replacements, to a point. But after suffering through Paul Westerberg’s solo stuff, I really don’t think I want to hear them get back together. Dyslexic Heart?

There are some bands that should reunite, like The Pixies, and others that should not, like Jane’s Addiction.

I loved Husker Du, but I don’t want to see them drag thier old bones back on stage. It’s tantamount to the Rolling Stones; it’s over, and they need to face it.
He can't' love you back...

I'm glad to see that the reunion is finally happening though it makes me smile a bit to see them getting a box set. The story goes that when the band heard Twin/Tone was going to release their albums on CD they were so offended that they decided to break into the label's offices, steal the masters, and throw them into the river because they felt vinyl was the only way to experience The Replacements. Things fell apart when they stopped off a few too many times for beer and became too drunk to remember the plan.

Hey, JC... I've always known, as a Brit, your middle name starts with an H. What's it stand for? Harold? Harvey? Is it double-barreled? Hamilton-Christ? Spill the beans!

Purportedly, Tommy is the ONLY guy from the last proposed GN'R lineup that is still in the band, in whatever format you can call it that...Tommy has been quoted as saying something to the effect of 'Everyone thinks working with Axl is difficult, but he's not anywhere near as diffcult as working with Paul Westerberg'.

And in classic Westerberg fashion, he was on the Jim Rome show last year, and was asked about that, his response was 'I'm actually proud of that. I'm more difficult than a room full of Axl Roses'.

BUT...since GN'R exists more in theory than practice, Tommy's keeping busy - scoring a new Jennfier Garner movie that also has Juliette Lewis and Kevin Smith, his solo album last year 'Village Gorilla Head' was pretty good, and he is also the bass player for Soul Asylum, replacing Karl Muller, who is no longer with us - check it out: http://www.myspace.com/soulasylumofficial

So to answer your query - um, if GN'R exists, I guess he's still part of it, but he's not waiting around either.

That's funny because when I was looking at the Replacements on SNL clip I thought to myself, "Remember when Soul Asylum sounded like that?" Here's hoping that Dave has finally shaken off that Winona break-up and has gotten that fire back in his belly.
