My friend pulled out the Pure 80s this weekend. I must say, when it started out with "Eye of the Tiger" I got pretty pumped...

Personally, I'm an atheist in the voting booth and a theist in the movie theatre. I separate the morality of religion with the spirituality and solace of it. There is something boring about atheism.

Thank you, Zoners, for the kindness, tolerance, and enlightenment you've shared with me. It may not have been deserved, but it was greatly appreciated nonetheless. Soupy twist.

One of the defining moments of the end of my teen years was the shocking discovery that "Don't you....." by Simple Minds was balked at by just about everyone more than 2 yrs either side my age. I had regarded it as being one of the best and had brooded over at least three "epic" romantic break-ups to that song.

I stopped dressing like John Bender pretty much the next day.....and life has been a catalogue of disappointment ever since.....

Hey, hey, hey HEY!

Same for me.

I was on a date with a girl I was crazy about when I first heard that song. Every time I hear it I think about her..... then get really pissed.

Good to see ya Doc!

Hah!
KCBC doesn't care if you're Glib, Man in Suit or Airwolf...
you leave him an opening like that ( and I know I just did it too with "an opening like that"), he's going to open up on your ass.

Man, dem tunes. Hard to believe the 80s are already so long ago & so far away.

But there's some good stuff in that there collection, pilgrim.
If you missed the 80s, this is your chance.

Cap, your avatar just provided me with a "laugh until I puke out my own eyeballs" moment.

To wit:

My daughter wanders by and sees you avatar....

What comes out of my five year old daughters mouth?

"Why is that puppy kicking him in the nuts?"

There's a real fancy latin name for "corruptor of youth"...
and it belongs to you, Cap olde buddy.

My kid turns out to be a deviant & I am so going to be hunting you down....

Oh count on it, you dog nuts kicking goddam putz!
And the gun to head thing is passive -
your avatar actually encompasses the kicking of the balls.
Kids react to movement, much like a raptor...

NSFTVD? - Why, that's very decent of you Baxter!
I'm sure Jillian will appreciate having her own designation here in the PZ.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I must admit that is a pretty slick 5 disc 80's retrospect... I wouldn't mind hearing "Heart and Soul" by T'Pau, "Valerie Loves Me" by (I can't remember :( ), "Heat of the Moment" by Asia, "Burning for you" by BOC, "for you" by Mannfred Mann.

KIds are so drawn to slapstick, I've found.
Jillian will watch things like Buster Keaton, The Stooges ( my mom would frigging kill me if she knew....mom hated The 3 Stooges with a passion. Mostly because we copied almost everything we saw them do. That might be it), Python ( she can...cringe...sing Every Sperm is Sacred. She only saw that part of the movie ONCE, and she retained it.), whomever.

Jillian loved your avatar so much, she asked me why mine just lay there "like a lump".

No, unfortunately my daughter has a fashion sense (at 9 by god). If you don't believe me, I'll show you my wallet sometime. And her persistant snickering at my attire.

That is funny stuff, my friend.

However my son (6) has a fashion sense in that territory, and exhibitionist tendencies as well. That crazy kid.

He must be a child of a child of the 80's.

Jesus, when did the 80s become ancient history?
Its true - time pnwts all our asses.

Its a cold world indeed when our own spawn snickers at "our attire".

Heh...this thread may be cheesier than one of Jerry's wet dreams......but its bringing back some shocking memories from back in the day.

I went from all these sort of tracks and wishing I was John Bender straight into Soft Rock Mode. Skid Row, Megadeth, The Crue, Poison (yes, Poison) and all those other bands that made spandex and white trainers the fashion accessories of kings.

The soundtracks to these perfect days? In the UK there were a series of compilation albums called "Pure Soft Metal" "Precious Metal" and something like "Velvet Metal".

Check 'em out - they're the stuff of champions.

(.....and waist long hair (see the UK Zoner pics to feel my pain THESE days), bullet belts and getting pissed on Thunderbird whilst singing "Sweet Child O Mine VERY badly.....)
"I think the worst time to have a heart attack is during a game of charades..."

When I did a Google Search for 'Ny 2 Timer' this is what I came up with.

Ny2timer, you're sucha gentleman. You only come here to shit massive plants all over the place, then fuck off again. If I ever become Mod I'll...

Meanwhile I'm sticking you in the 'Wanker of the Week' thread.

Consider yourself Wanked by me.
