Zone Zine?

Hey I was wondering, we have a lot of smart cats round these parts, and I used to have a little zine with a flair for awesome layouts

ex 1:

And something like a zine can get you cool places and meeting cool people

ex 2.5:

So, who would be interested in contributing their talents? We would all have equal say as to direction and planning ect. At first a few of us might need to contribute dollars to start it, but after a while they can become self sustaining. Nothing that will make anyone here rich, but can afford a lot of fun stories.

A few years ago an ex-girl of mine
Asked me to keep her name out of my rhymes
So I said this rhyme that I'm about to say
It came from the heart and it went this way:
Go to hell girl, you make me sick!
I hope your new boyfriend gets cancer in his dick
What the fuck makes you think I'd put your name on my record?
there, now I feel a lot better

Is that Slug?...with Mr. Dibbs?!

Expect possible cyberstalking from my girlfriend...she's got a thing for Sluggo.

I figured this would be the appropriate place for this, but at the same time, it's also not my stuff I'm promoting but trying to get everyone on board... hmmm

Also I guess we would have to decide on a direction, although my concept was taking the "Sienfeld approach", IE; a zine about nothing. Just have everyone sending in submissions on everything from recent concerts, new albulms, films, political rants, local news that needs wider attention, and whatever other random stuff people feel like writing about.

hmmm...this could be excellent...a AICN produced zine...the AICN crew as editors...using their industry contacts for scoops...using the inherent wit of the zoners...TOO FUCKIN GOOD.

Sir Rojo's got some dough, he could afford some nice glossy full color job...*MUAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!*

anything I write here is yours to use as you wish.

I'm going to the first of the 4 Built to Spill shows at Slims next week, will try to give it a "proper" review...

sounds good, as stuff gets compiled I'll start doing layouts. so the first issue might take a while as we wait for people to come on board.

so any photos you can get at said shows would be keen too. when I complete the layouts for an article I'll post them for review by the zone.

vodka drinker. on the rocks with a squeeze, or w/ cranberrry or tonic.

the reason Martsch wanted to play @ Slims...the cook.

apparently they've got the best in the City, at least for bands.

patton and his various projects play there all the time. in fact, the very first fantomas gig of all times was at slims. patton has a notorious reputation as something of a gourmand. this news you have delivered about the chef, kc, comes as no surprise to me. next time i go, i swear i will eat something other than beer.

One small suggestion. Use an easily readable font, even if doesn't look cool.

oh yes always do, except in things like titles and whatnot, but the "meat & potatoes" of my zines have always been very legible.

keep in mind that this is reduced in size from the 8.5x11 format.

No offense was intended, but I didn't know what dimensions you work at. I've seen digest-sized zines with tiny, hard-to-make-out fonts. All because someone liked the look.

Again, no offense.
