Zombie killin music

Sigur Ros is the greatest living band. Discuss.

Zombie killin music

Postby SilentBobX on Sat Aug 05, 2006 10:41 pm

Another thought that occured to me. What would be a good choice of music to kill zombies to? Bay City Rollers? Bjork? ICP? The list goes on and on. Post the music that you'd love to hear as you splatter the undead's gray matter all over the landscape.

Here's mine:

The A-Team theme

Shoot to thrill by AC/DC

Hellraiser(Ozzy or Motorhead version)

Enter Sandman by Metallica

You Could Be Mine by Guns'NRoses

Death or Glory by Motorhead

The Last In Line by Dio

Iron Man by Black Sabbath

So what's yours? Send 'em in. Maybe it'll be enough to get a video made by someone for the next zombie movie.

The theme to Magnum.

Coal Chamber....Sway

Metallica....Nothing else matters (you gotta have a ballad or two)

Wizard of Oz soundtrack

Prodigys Jilted Generation album

That'll do for now

I'd start the zombie-killin' with:

Renegade - Styx

The aforementioned Ballroom Blitz

Smack My Bitch Up - Prodigy

Stupified - Disturbed

Busy Child - Crystal Method

Don't Fear the Reaper - B.O.C.

Clubbed to Death - Rob D.

Actually, pretty much the whole Matrix soundtrack

Bulls On Parade - Rage Against the Machine

More Human Than Human - White Zombie

Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme song - or a medley of pro-wrestler entrances (Stone Cold, Jericho, Batista, Legion of Doom, D-X...etc.)

My Philosophy - Ben Folds Five

Sheep Go to Heaven - Cake

We Built This City - Starship (only to keep the anger level up until finding and defeating the zombie Grace Slick)

Depending on how fit you are....

Weber's Ring Cycle...its 16 hours long but it does include "ride of the Valkyries" so it makes it worth while for that extra adrenalin rush.

OK, kinda excusing the diplomatic immunity bestowed courtesy of ZZS for a moment, here's a few that leap to mind...

(Oh and I would feel guilty if I went for puns on titles, so it's all music/visuals based, and concequently I can't help but going for the surreally ubeat, or just something that makes sense to me, rather than all out zombie killer rage fuel music...)

Minha Menina - Jorge Ben

Amen My Brother - The Winstons

Closing Time - Leonard Cohen

(Advised Setting: Saloon)

Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You - Peabo Bryson & Roberta Flack

(Advised Setting: Ice Rink and/or an ambonded smokey 80's dancefloor)

Hmmm... interesting topic. My thought is that it would need to be fairly aggressive:

Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta (the entire Album)

Seasons in the Abyss by Slayer (the entire album)

Bolero by Reval (spelling?)

Orion by Metallica

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails (the entire album)

Many more to come.

This is why you are the best. Hands down.

I think, if in a 'final showdown' situation, 'The Piano Has Been Drinking' by Tom Waits might make a nice addition. But you would have to kill a few in slow motion for the vibe to work.

This is why you have to reserve the slow-motion for just this scenario, wherein the zombie, by nature, is a slow-motion entity ergo enabling the melancholy slo-mo kill.

Wait, these aren't those 'zombies-on-loads-of-crank' from the Dawn of the Dead remake are they? Because then you'd need 'Time Has Come Today'.

Get mean, get real, get arte, get noise. Blistering walls of avant garde
noise heavenhell bliss and/or gonzo hardart decompositions is what you
need to dispatch the dead and/or the join their ranks. Not this tepid
fakerebellion fakeindustrial techno-metal saccarine matrixtallica disco
wank I see written above. You're about to plunge into a malestrom of
the most extreme form of horror! Your soul should be dancing on the
razors edge of madness; seething with rage and fear; dimensions will be
ripped asunder; god and the devil on trial for their crimes and you are
the judge, jury, and executioner!!! You must connect with something
within yourself so far beyond good and evil as to be the most frightening
thing imagine -- Total Purity. Wield that purity like a GIANT BLAZING
FIST dwarfing the Sun and PUNCH A HOLE THROUGH THE UNIVERSE!!!

My wreck-o-mmendations:

Glenn Branca (really anything by him, but these especially):

~from Lesson 1: Dissonance

~from The Ascension: Lesson #2; Structure; the Spectacular Commodity; the Ascension

~from Syphony No. 6: Devil Choirs at the Gates of Heaven: Second Movement

Rhys Chatham:

~Guitar Trio

Steroid Maximus (aka Jim "Foetus" Thirwell):

~Life in the Greenhouse Effect

~Quilombo

~Fighteous (which you may recognize as the original version of the Venture Bros. theme song)

Just load them up on yr iPod, put it on shuffle and start killin'!

"Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden -- especially if it's Native American zombies, crawling up from some ancient burial ground.

"Balls to the Wall" by Accept.

Any Ramones, but in particular "Beat on the Brat" or "Pet Cemetary."

"Helter Skelter" -- I'd go with Motley Crue's version.

Big seconds on Al's Rammstein suggestion and Flumm's ice rink scene!

I love a little juxtaposition in my choice of music so I would love to add...

Gershwin....Rhapsody in Blue.

Bach: Toccata and Fugue in D minot (the easy choice)

How about a few Betthoven Sonata's?

and

Rachmaninof on a Theme of Paganini (so much fun to play and so diverse to kill zombies). About 17 minutes in (depending on the version) there is a wonderful retroinversion lullaby which would make great slo-mo.

Zombie Dance by the Cramps

or something fast and angry - like
Intoxication by the Badtown Boys

or some ska or Oi! that makes you want to jump around, perhaps
You're Nicked by the Angelic Upstarts or
House of Fun by Madness

I think maybe some Underworld songs would work pretty well too.

Beethoven's Ninth.

All of the above I listen to when cleaning up the house. Kind of the same thing - no?

I just looked him up - and see that he's done the Dead Kennedys Holiday in Cambodja as well - that must sound hilarious!! Dead Kennedys would make for good zombie-bashing music too.

"The Weight" by The Band. Only it would be retitled "The Dead Weight" and would go like this:

I pulled into Zombietown
They're feeling all half past dead
Just need to find I place
Where I can shoot their heads
Hey Mister, can you tell me
Where a man might find the dead?
He just grinned and shook my hand
Everywhere, he said.

Take a load off, Zombie (POW!)
Take a load for free (POW! POW! POW! POW!)
Take a load off, Zombie (POW!)
Aaaaaand I'll shoot all you bastards in the fuckin' teeth!

"SacreBLAM!!1"

I would see that movie.

In fact, just take every suggestion in this thread, and lump in to one giant zombified strip of celluloid.

Add some sexy accents, even the zombies, some gratitous subtitles just for the hell of it, maybe a healthy scattering of ninjas, boobs and explosions here and there, and you have yourself garaunteed entertainment for all the family right there, I tells you.
