I hope that you have had or will have a wonderful Holiday Season. And I'd like to share with all of you a Christmas song my grandpa used to play for the family.

If anyone has access, please listen to Diana Ross and the Supremes sing A Few of My Favorite Things. She's so spazzy about it, I really BELIEVE she is totally into blue satin sashes*.

I never really got how that's become a Christmas song. Same with Jingle Bells, and It's Cold Outside. None of them explicitly have anything to do with Christmas, yet that's the only time you hear them.

My Favorite Christmas songs are Vince Gauraldi and Sending You a Little Christmas by Jim Brickman... well, that's my favorite right now. I'm sure that as time changes, my favorite Christmas songs change as well.

Come on... that's an obvious choice. "Please Bring Some Snow (Some Snow For Johnny (He Wants to Build a Big Snowman))" is a helliday CLASSIC!

What do you mean, Vince Guaraldi? What Christmas songs did he do?

I had a CD of a couple of muscians from Victoria, BC, playing Christmas music on ancient instruments they built themselves. (I mean, they built new instruments to ancient designs - instruments with names like "high psaltery" and the like.) The music was gorgeous. I gave the disc to my sister for Christmas one year, and she LOST IT!!!

I don't remember the name of the disc, nor the names of the musicians. Fuck.

I've always had a soft spot for Dominic the Donkey by Lou Monte.
