I think it's a brilliant song. Reminds me a lot of Tamla motown stuff...

I really like it... but i don't listen to the radio really ever, so i avoid hearing good songs to the point at which i hate them... Sorry...

I think it's a pretty good song too - plus, she's locked away in the Big Brother house now, so you might not hear it for a while....

Either way i can see how it's not too good... My girlfriend has been watching it since it started... I caught some of it last night for the first time...

I must admit, i thought it was quite funny...

I like that song - there's a remix I've heard a couple of hip hop dj's playing that's quite good as well - probably prefer You Know I'm No Good and a couple of other songs off the Back to Black album, however.

Is it just me, or did two posts suddenly and independantly (?) appear at the top of the Top 15 with randomly and, let's face it, somewhat gratitously inserted Kevin Costner/Bryan Adams/Robin Hood references in them...

I loathe Amy Winehouse - if it was down to me she'd be locked in a room with 5 bottles of Vodka and a pack of razor blades. Leave the rest to Darwinism.

Amy Winehouse fucking RULES.

I just saw her in Boston a few weeks back, and it was an absolutely incredible show. Her band and backup singers/dancers were all spot-on. And she, shockingly, was drunk off her ass. I loved it because it's usually hard enough to understand a band when they talk to the audience. Her being absolutely pissed made it a moot point: couldn't hear her, and wouldn't understand her if we could. Her voice is even more impressive live than it is recorded. Say what you will about your like/dislike of her, but that is impressive to have such a powerful voice. Far better than 90% of the singers out there these days.

For the record, I didn't like Rehab when I first heard it either. Tears Dry On Their Own and You Know I'm No Good were the ones that drew me in. Fuck Me Pumps just sold me completely. Then, the cherry on top was hearing Ghostface Killa's version of YKING. I suggest anyone who hasn't heard that one checks it out.

She's on Big Brother over in Jolly ol' England, eh? I'll have to look for some of that on YouTube, that's kinda slick. My fiancee will flip when I tell her, she's the reason I even know Amy exists.

NooooOoooOooOOOoOoooOo!

I apologise for causing the confusion. There is someone in the Big Brother house who looks a teeny tiny little bit like Amy Winehouse, so I always refer to her by that name. Her real name is Shabnam.

I believe Amy is currently in the States, having loud arguments with her husband in hotel lobbies, if the press are to be believed!

One of my great record-store moments came when a teenage girl asked if we had any more copies of "Everything I Do." I told her we did not. She asked why. I said, "Did you buy Bryan Adams's last album?" She told me she hadn't. "Neither did anyone else," I said.

The man's career was saved by Robin Hood.

I find Amy Winehouse's voice irritating and I don't think the track was mixed very well. Her voice gets lost, which is odd considering its strength.

It's not that the song itself sucks. It's just the constant playing of it over and over and over again that makes you want to do yourself bodily harm.

I actually like that someone is returning to a little blues.

I'll admit, I don't like hearing Rehab on the radio, but only because it's not as good as some of her other songs. I'd rather hear those. But this is one of those cases where she has crossed many borders when it comes to radio play. Pop stations, rock stations, adult/contemporary and a few of the satellite stations have been playing her. It will die down eventually.

So Amy got completely fucked up and punched a couple of people, then had to break into her home by forcing the garage door. Pete reportedly is self-harming in prison.

Gotta love celebrities.

the problem with drugs is that they make you think you're a legend.

a legend, in your own mind.

which works for me.

i spend a lot of time in my head.

of course, since I'm not a megalomaniacal maniac with delusions of grandeur, it generally isn't a problem for me.

I think we could safely start filming a biopic for Amy Winehouse and just put off filming the part where she dies until near the end of the shoot when it will likely have occurred. Even if she doesn't OD while we're making the movie, these biopics always take certain liberties and I doubt she'd be offended if we showed her dying.

My suggestion is sort of a Sid&Nancy type deal where there's a bit of a tragic fairy tale feel to the whole thing. Maybe even get Alex Cox to direct it, but I'd prefer Pedro Almodovar since he has such a good humouristic touch on female characters and deals frequently with themes of death and mourning and tragic relationships. He could even do it in Spansih with Penelope Cruz. I mean they made movies about Marie Atoinette and Wolfgang Mozart in English, so why not make a biopic about an Englishwomen in Spanish?

I just read on NPR that she was bipolar but refused medication. That probably means she was self-treating with the drink and drugs, like so many bipolars. Ah, Amy. I understand how she must have felt, but being alive and less creative beats being dead, most of the time.

Russell Brand, for once not seeming like a twit, posted a blog entry about his friendship with Winehouse. At the end (excerpted from an US online story):

"I arrived late and as I made my way to the audience through the plastic smiles and plastic cups I heard the rolling, wondrous resonance of a female vocal. Entering the space I saw Amy on stage with Weller and his band; and then the awe. The awe that envelops when witnessing a genius. From her oddly dainty presence that voice, a voice that seemed not to come from her but from somewhere beyond even Billie and Ella, from the font of all greatness. A voice that was filled with such power and pain that it was at once entirely human yet laced with the divine. My ears, my mouth, my heart and mind all instantly opened," he writes. "Winehouse. Winehouse? Winehouse! That twerp, all eyeliner and lager dithering up Chalk Farm Road under a back-combed barnet, the lips that I'd only seen clenching a fishwife fag and dribbling curses now a portal for this holy sound. So now I knew. She wasn't just some hapless wannabe, yet another pissed up nit who was never gonna make it, nor was she even a ten-a-penny-chanteuse enjoying her fifteen minutes. She was a fucking genius.

"Shallow fool that I am, I now regarded her in a different light, the light that blazed down from heaven when she sang. That lit her up now and a new phase in our friendship began. She came on a few of my TV and radio shows, I still saw her about but now attended to her with a little more interest. Publicly though, Amy increasingly became defined by her addiction. Our media though is more interested in tragedy than talent, so the ink began to defect from praising her gift to chronicling her downfall. The destructive personal relationships, the blood soaked ballet slippers, the aborted shows, that YouTube madness with the baby mice. In the public perception this ephemeral tittle-tattle replaced her timeless talent. This and her manner in our occasional meetings brought home to me the severity of her condition.

"Now Amy Winehouse is dead, like many others whose unnecessary deaths have been retrospectively romanticized at 27 years old. Whether this tragedy was preventable or not is now irrelevant. It is not preventable today. We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease.

"Not all addicts have Amy's incredible talent. Or Kurt's or Jimi's or Janis's. Some people just get the affliction. All we can do is adapt the way we view this condition, not as a crime or a romantic affectation but as a disease that will kill. We need to review the way society treats addicts, not as criminals but as sick people in need of care. We need to look at the way our government funds rehabilitation. It is cheaper to rehabilitate an addict than to send them to prison, so criminalization doesn't even make economic sense. Not all of us know someone with the incredible talent that Amy had but we all know drunks and junkies and they all need help and the help is out there. All they have to do is pick up the phone and make the call. Or not. Either way, there will be a phone call."
