What music are you ashamed to like?

I will start this off by admitting that I have a fondness for:

Kelly Clarkson

Sixties American bubblegum, especially on the Buddha Records label.

New Age and Synth Pop. I own Pure Moods 1 and 3, and love them both. I own stuff by Enya, Yanni, Delerium, Tangerine Dream (fits into the SP category for the non-score stuff that I own), Andreas Vollenweider, Dead Can Dance, Sarah Brightman, Enigma... I have the one and only (which is a crime against humanity that there was only one) Balligomingo release, etc.

All of it rules.

The Dino, he always enjoy a the Dead, They Can a Dance, no? It's a the goddamn shame that a the Gerrard anna Perry, they went a their separate ways, eh? Just as it would a seem that a their collaborations, they were tranna'scending a the human ability for a the music making, they go anna call it alla quits. Goddamn putzes.

Although, I donna think I would a go anna label them as a the New Age, or a the Synth Pop for a that matter, eh? Holy crappa, that donna even a begin a to describe them, no?

Dino, I love Dead Can Dance, too. I saw them perform at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, and it is still one of the best shows I've ever seen. Ever. They played for almost two hours. If you don't already have it, the 'Toward The Within' CD & DVD is a MUST-see.

Oh, and I, too, have a soft spot in my heart for Kelly Clarkson. Great pipes, and the thing she sits down on ain't all that bad, either.

I'll admit it.....

Britney Spears first two albums were pretty good. The import of ...Baby One More Time contains Autumn Goodbye which is a good tune.

I followed the development of that CD for a good two years before it finally came out. I had a CD with demo versions of four or five tracks (all were on the final album). I highly reccomend it, maybe two or three tracks out of the whole thing are "skipable," but they're not bad. Kristy Thirsk's track "Heat" is auditory sex. Too bad she sorta disowned the song. She laid down the vocals for it, then changed her mind and didn't really want them used in their original capacity (I believe it had something to do with the line "I like being burned"), and the guy went and used it anyway. Oh well.

Now if there was ANY kind of news whatsoever on what this guy has done since then, that would be something. I mean, the CD came out 6 years ago or more.

I had an mp3 player clean-out today but couldn't bring myself to delete any Mariah Carey. I blame an ex-girlfriend, the same one who made me start laughing at Friends through being forced to watch it with her.

The Legend of Dschingis Khan with three members of the original group, a disco band from Germany that now looks like characters you'd find in the game "Gauntlet". Notice the Jack Sparrow lookalike...

'N Sync
Backstreet Boys
Christina Aguilera
Britney Spears
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Hannah Montana
Justin Timberlake
The Soundtracks to Disney Movies (Aladdin)
Enya
Neil Diamond
Music from Sister Act Movies
Spice Girls
Michael Jackson
Celine Dion

I think I should stop...

I feel a little guilty about this, but I'm addicted to the song "Clothes Off!!" by Gym Class Heroes. It's really catchy! I heard it on TV a month ago and it got stuck in my head for about a week.

Plus I like that it has a sense of humor ("we have to take our clothes off/ we have to party all night"). It makes me think of Jimbo in the Simpsons - "Oh man, now my pants are chafing me!"

Not hip-hop, I have no shame for loving hip-hop. But I do have a guilty pleasure in listening to some mindless, horribly enunciated Durty South rap.
