Each of the bands I'm in has a record coming out this year. Those who'll actually listen to them and had not heard us before will be very surprised. I think. Happy New Year!

I just hope R.E.M.'s new album doesn't suck.

Well don't have an aneurysm if it does!

Sorry, Bill Berry... that was cheap and I admit it!

Haven't heard this mix before - the track has been around for quite a while, no? I enjoy it a lot.

you can find a semi-comprehensive list here. Your tastes run a tad bit more straight up rock-ish than my own, but you may (or may not) be interested in the new Mars Volta.

March 4th for me though, as the new Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, this time with (interplanetary)Janet "she likes her drums loud" Weiss pounding away behind him.

titled "Real Emotional Trash", I'm an emotional wreck just waiting to hear it.

I really enjoyed Mars Volta's "Deloused in the Comatoriun", and I have the two follow ups but found them to be too "art noise" for my taste. I will keep a lookout for that Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks album.

Thanks!

The albums I'm really looking forward to on Burl's list are the Magnetic Fields, Cat Power, Ray Davies, and Cursive.

I'm hoping that the Dandy Warhols will release something this year.

Oh, and anything that the Residents deem to put out. I know they're releasing some remastered older albums (I think Eskimo is one), so that's all good, too.

I thought The Residents said they'd only remaster their albums when they'd forgotten they'd ever made them.

If it weren't for the fact that there's people like me who're willing to shell out for anything they release, they probably would. But the remasters have been nice. The things that I heard in the latest edition of the Third Reich N' Roll, that I hadn't heard on my older CD release... Fantastic!

The rereleases they've got coming out this year are Eskimo and Duck Stab. And they're releasing Animal Lover Instrumental. So I'll definately be picking up those.

Blur?

I don't think it's gonna happen.

Not yet, at any rate.

PostPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 1:26 am

All the blur albums have had at least Albarn, James, and Rowntree contributing. From what I've read, the new album may reunite these three with with the talented lead guitarist Graheme Coxon, who in the meantime has had a couple of pretty good solo albums.

PostPosted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 1:35 am

Didn't the lead guitarist quit their last album midway through?

You're right, he quit when they were preparing to record 'Think Tank' in '02 (which was produced by Fatboy Slim and had a couple of good songs, but not an album on par with their previous work). In the meantime Albarn had enormous success with the two Gorrilaz albums and other projects - I seem to remember you were a fan of the Deltron 3030 lp too Burl, no?

There are people who don't like Deltron 3030?!?!?

I always wonder why they have never released 'Deltron 3030 Event II', whereas Dan the Automator pushed on with a second wildly uneven 'Handsome Boys Modelling School' album and Del and Kid Koala could probably use the royalties... I sort of think the first Gorrilaz album put all of it on the backburner for good.

it should be coming out later this year, after Del's drops his first solo album in years.

the source is wiki, so take it with a grain - but I can confirm, having read an interview with Del in one of the local rags last year, that Automator has completed most of the beats for the sequel...
Currently there is a DVD available called 11th Hour, which DVD contains some live footage, footage of him in the studio and around the house, as well as footage of him recording 11th Hour. It will be his first solo album in more than seven years.

According to an interview with Del on the latest edition of the Hierocast, Hiero's official podcast, progress has been made on 11th Hour and the beats and the cuts for the sequel to Deltron 3030 are complete. He also did an Interview on The Breakdown a show on ItsHipHop.tv where he talked about his upcoming projects, his career, Ice Cube, and E40.

Current status on Del's new albums is that 11th Hour will be released first, with the new Deltron album, Deltron Event II being released afterwards. Both albums are expected to be released in 2008.

As of summer 2007, rumors circulated around the internet that "11th Hour" will be released by underground hip hop label Def Jux as opposed to Hiero Imperium. CEO and MC El-P all but confirmed Del's signing recently in a cryptic myspace blog post. Del is also currently on tour with Embedded/Def Jux artists Iller than Theirs and Junk Science. On November 6th, 2007 there was a post on the Definitive Jux website that said: "Del the Funky Homosapien signs with Def Jux! Posted on 11/06/2007 We are proud to announce that the new album from seminal rapper, hip hop icon, and founding member of the mighty Hieroglyphics crew, Del The Funky Homosapien. The 11th Hour, will be released on Definitive Jux on February 26th, 2008.

Really? I think it's awesome. I think the basic idea of it is what got the Gorillaz up and going. So many tracks by so many great people - Del, DJ Shadow, DJ Quest, De La Soul, Encore, Brand Nubian, Kid Koala, and of course, Father Guido Motherfuckin' Sarducci. I could listen to that shit all day.

Did you like the second one?

and more hippity-hoppity - Atmosphere dropped a free mixtape, Strictly Leakage.

Thanks for this stuff KCBC.

That del track is cool but the end is just a little too repetitive as p4k stated.

I am listening to the Atmosphere now.

Its more of the same from Darnielle, but the production is a step up and its more in the vein of Sunset Tree than Get Lonely.

By the way like your nick. Big fan of theirs from way back when.

Yeah I've heard the leak but I'm still excited to get a physical copy. There's usually some interesting liner notes from Darnielle at least. I think it's a really great record. Far better than Get Lonely (which I still liked).

That's very fucking lovely, Stereo. Good find on the free download.

I gotta admit, that tune's growing on me.

it's like they went on a massive Wes Anderson movie watching spree and wrote that track soon after, 'cuz it could certainly slot comfortably into any of his flicks...

What are your favorite tracks, KCBC?

For me they are Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, M79, Walcott, The Kids Dont Stand A Chance, and I Stand Corrected.
