Much better than A BLESSING AND A CURSE. The songs are more focused, and although Jason Isbell is missed, Shonna Tucker's three song contributions are excellent (love "I'm Sorry Houston").

I like the Drive-Bys, but they're one of those bands that's much better live. To me, their albums are sorta flat. It's like they're holding back when they're in the recording studio.

But jeez, when they get onstage. Magic!

Yeah the album is a bit of a slog to get through. There's some good stuff, but as far as alt.country or southern.rock goes, there's more interesting and lively stuff out there.
