In a surprise announcement posted just a few hours ago on Chris Cornell's Official Site, the news was revealed that legendary Seattle band SOUNDGARDEN will reunite!

loved me some soundgarden back in the day. It'll be interesting to hear what kind of sound they go for all these years later... will they just try and mimic what they were? Will they try and be something completely new?

I think Black Hole Sun and Fell on Black Days were my favorites. I thought that as a band they continued to grow musically with each album they put out.
It will be interesting to see what they sound like (Cornell's voice included).

cornell has sang (sung?) with audioslave and on his own solo stuff recently. he still has a decent voice, but not what it was a decade ago

I just hope they get a tour going. It wasn't the same hearing Black Hole Sun with RATM as backup.

I liked them a lot... I'm curious to see what they do too. I'm not sure that their old sound will be good enough to do anything but get old fans to concerts. I'd like to actually hear them do something new and cool without them getting the whole "sold out" rap.

Honestly, either would be fine with me. I think Soundgarden was one of the best bands of the 90s.

the gist of it, as far as i've heard, is that they're reuniting to play some concerts. whether it lasts any longer than that is anyone's guess.
