The MESHUGGAH Thread

One of my personal favorite bands. Definitely a "deserted island" type band for me.

2:40 and on is some of the most amazing music I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. This band is far more than a heavy metal band. They transcend music by elevating it to a whole other level of artistic musical creation. I find it closer to artwork than to metal. I'm not even a "metal-head", this band just gives me goosebumps like I have never experienced.

"What am I this me beneath
A vain organic lie
That rules me from inside

Immobile now I bow before reality itself
It's substance moving through my eyes
My life is transferred once
Suffused upon my mind
The view erases burns inside
And then another fall
I plunge into a well of lies
A cold perennial flow
The vortex of my soul"

This is awful stuff. That vocal is one of the most comically bad that I've ever heard. This thread is a joke, right?

Not at all. I don't really care if you don't like it, BTW. It doesn't make a difference. :)

Minstrel's right though, that's not a very pleasing piece of music with which to listen.

It's certainly not music for the masses. I don't listen to what people on the radio decide I'm going to listen to, so I can see the disconnect. I don't get into much commercialized music. Some, but not much.

It's not really a matter of commercialisation.

If a song or a piece of music is good, it's good regardless of who made it.

Well I believe Meshuggah is very very good. If you don't agree, I don't care because it doesn't change my perception. I would like to know what bands/music you find good.

Not a complete collection, but there are some Cliff CDs knocking around somewhere.

Gotta back up my lads FG & Minstrel here.....this is full of fail, and I have been known to have very broad musical tastes.
But baboon sounds as vocalization? Eh, no.
As a lyricist myself I find the words ( as posted) beyond pretentious.

Nota bene: if you "don't care" about what we think, they why in hell bother to post it up here and ask what we think?
Make up your mind. And try not to be so bitchy about it. That's the talkbacks you're thinking of,
and this ain't the talkbacks. Savvy?

Did I ask what anyone thinks? I must be blind, because I don't see that anywhere. Music is subjective, so I truly couldn't care less what you think. Thanks for playing.

It works both ways. If you don't like them, why bother posting "it's full of fail" in the thread?
Try reading the guy's post before you make accusations & tell him to fuck off back to the talkbacks.

I dunno, because he ASKED US TO? That's why he posted it in this thread. He asked for our reaction.
We're not supposed to give him one, if we don't agree that the sun shines out Meshuggah's ass?
Sorry, can not agree with you on this one. He asked, we answered. Wah wah wah.
And no one asked him to "fuck off back to the talkbacks". Please reread my post before you take a shit on me, okay?

On a discussion forum it's kinda implied that you want people to comment on and discuss whatever you make a post about. It's just an inherent part of the system.

Otherwise you should posting it on a blog.

All I said was how much I like this band and how much I like the songs I posted. You and a few others don't like it, so f-ing what. Do you really think I care that you don't agree with me? I don't need or want you to like the same stuff I do, because clearly you are an a-hole. You won't see me bash something someone else likes. I may say I don't like it all that much or that it's not my style, but I won't be a dick about it. I'll say it one more time, if you don't like Meshuggah, I don't care in the least, because I will continue enjoying their amazing tunes regardless of your close-minded antagonistic opinions. Have a great day. : )

True, but no-one is positing "oh, this new album sucks, the lyrics are laughable..." in The Official Weezer Thread.
It's a lot easier & more fun to discuss music you like with people who also like it, is it not?

He didn't ask though, Vic.
He posted a video, said why he liked them & then posted some lyrics.

So this:
The Vicar wrote: That's the talkbacks you're thinking of,

doesn't mean "if you want to act like that, go back to the TB's"?

Only in your mind, which I am not responsible for.
The real hidden message is "you're acting like you're in the talkbacks, and you're not."
I didn't think the message was that well hidden, but what the hell. I'll play along.

And this shit is simply not worth another iota of attention.
