When it came to story telling songs, one can hardly do better than the late Harry Chapin. A Better Place to Be or Mail Order Annie are great songs. Sure, Harry wrote Taxi. It wasn't his best, although its still pretty good. Genesis, back in the 70/80s wrote a lot of very good story/songs. Fountain of Salmacis. Harold the Barrel.
Seeing as how my last song was sort of taking the piss, how about a really cool Lou Reed story put to music? Apparently he had a whole box of these somewhere... It'd be awesome to hear a whole album of 'em set to squelchy music.
