THE MOVIES

Postby darthevilbob on Sat Nov 12, 2005 9:32 am

Im about to try out the new game :THE MOVIES, basically you run your own movie studio etc.. the most exciting thing about it though is that you can direct your own movies etc..

OK they don't look amazing, they are sort of THE SIMS, type movies but what the hell they easy to make and you can pretty much make anything you want.

I think my first masterpiece will be Burliveslestnut : Private Dick.

Or maybe not who knows.

Check out the movies here : http://movies.lionhead.com/

(no i dont work for Lionhead)

It is a shame that someone does post as that name. It would have a ying/yang flavor to it.

On topic: This looks really good. I don't know why, but the prospect of creating the long awaited Andromeda movie (or at least something that FEELS like it but isn't necessarily named it) really makes me giddy.

A question arises: How limited are the "actors"?

actually doing a phantom zone version of lost would be cool to do:

Imagine :

you know the scene with locke where he wakes up and realises he can walk, we should do it with Dino, first of all he's really happy and jumping around.

Then realises he'll have to walk everywhere without any help, so lay flat back down on the floor and starts crying "Help, Help I am a unable to a walk!"

I've just downloaded a few of the movies from the site. I think it's fair to say that the results so far are.......mixed. But from what I can see, if you were willing to put a lot of time in, and get hold of some decent custom sounds, you could probably put together a decent 3-5 minute story.

Yeah from what i've read in their forums, you have to actually get through the game before all the content is available.

Which may explain the lack of Sets / Film types.

What i will probably do, if i make anything is actually edit in another program to tidy it up.

I can't wait to make some PZ related movies.

Can we do a PZ remake of radio flyer? BB as the little boy with the dream. I'd be the older brother of course. Who wants to be the abusive step father?

Sure why not.

Nothing wrong with a little child abuse. It builds character.

Well im definately going to do a lost / PZ crossover.

I've got some good ideas for that, if anyone else has any ideas for short movies - post them on here, perhaps we could do classic movie scenes involving the PZ'ers

How about re-creating the last standoff in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, with Doc as Blondie, Burl as Tuco, and Alonzo as Sentenza. Then all of a sudden, Dino comes rushing in and yells "CRAPPA!! IT'S ALLA CRAPPA!! TAKE IT FROM THE TOP, you GODD*MN PUTZES!!!"

Yes, you heard me right . . .

Dino DeLaurentiis as Sergio Leone.

Then at the end, over the credits, Dino will shout as only he can:

"CUT IT!! PRINT!!! IT'S A WRAPPA!!! OLD SCHOOL BABY!!! Ah, I needa the wine and a smoke, ah?"

Well played the game for a good few hours, and i have to admit I am dissapointed, not in the game itslef, which is pretty fun, trying to get your movies to number one and winning awards, and running a movie studio.

However the whole making movies thing, is bollocks basically. You have to use pre made scenes, and then they dont all blend into one another. Your also stuck with all the same looking actor shapes (different faces / clothes etc) however, no excessively studly people.

In the end, the part i was most looking forward to is crap, I will have a go at making some movies (will have to wait until i complete the game though, to unlock all the sets/ props) however they lack the kind of control you would want to make your own movie, surely somewhere out there, there is movie making program - that actually works?

Nevermind, overall the game is cool, and you can kinda make movies (mainly horror/zombie movies though)

Can we all be in the expansion pack? We could be the "pointless distractions" to the harry mogul's precious time!
