Praise be to Crom, it is working again. For how long, however is the question.

Thanks for the info Bob Poopflingius Maximus.

Yeah definitely can't wait to start using it. I wonder if you can play avis off dvds?

I think you can play from discs, you get an option to select media source (press X in videos) but I use an external hard drive (cant get the media center to link up from my pc).
Instead I have a 250gb external drive with all my music, photos etc on and just plug it into a spare usb slot. The picture slideshow is great too, especially as you can play your music library at the same time, although im sure you know that. Just sayin. haha.

So you can hook up an external drive and read everything off of that? If I did that then I could free up HDD space from my music! I can't even download a demo because there are so many save files on my console.

Would it matter what brand, oh wise Lost S3 bragger?

hahaha. Still with the lost eh? Good thing you asked. I have a buffalo drivestation running through it, and it works perfectly.
But I also have a Seagate Free agent desktop drive, which doesnt work for some reason.
I have no idea what the difference is between the 2 drives, but something stops the seagate one from connecting.
Heres a linky to the one that does work, so you know what to look for.

My guess would be that the seagate needs to install drivers while the Buffalo one is true plug and play.

So I should be able to get a true plug in play brand and be fine. But I will still look for the recommended one.

I didn't know this could be done, really. The console started out so picky about what could and couldn't be connected. I was able to get my laptop to connect wirelessly to the console with media center. But I don't care for leaving my laptop on everytime I turn the console on. It becomes tedious. This is the most valuable information I've gotten in a long time, and it was right in front of my face.

Yeah, I tried a usb stick first, and it worked fine so I tried hooking up the drive. I was surprised too, as the original xbox wouldnt even play a copied cd. Glad to be of service. Maybe you can forgive me for my lost antics now? :)

So has anyone heard of Saboteur?

This game is set in WWII but before you say another one?? Wait! This might actually be something new and innovative.

You are Sean Devlin a race car driver that gets drawn into the French Resistance. The game starts of in black and white with few colors like that movie by Spielberg. As you cause more mayhem and show the French that they can fight, color is gradually returned to the sections you are in. The people that are freed will be more likely to help out and join in the fight too.

This seems like it could be a neat stealth game. Cannot wait to see more about it.

More info...

HORAH! Finally I have one, a sweet expensive gadget to call my own. I'm totally loving my new 360 at the moment (the fancy shit plasma I'm playing it through my also be a factor). I got the Pro pack with Viva Pinta (?) and Forenza (?). Car games are not really my thing as I get tired of just doing laps, but Viva P seems really really cool. I just want to start inter breeding them now :wicked:.

So people, suggest some sweet games I should look into. GOW is on the list, along with COD4 (played it already somewhere else and it's very god damn impressive....'no, that guy... get that guy there').

Grats :D

In the order I'd get them:

Dead Rising
Burnout Revenge (I know you said you're not into car games, but god damn if this isn't one of the most fun games I've ever played)
Gears of War

Those are my three favorites on the system. If you want something to show off to friends, Assassin's Creed and Bioshock are stunningly gorgeous games. Haven't played Mass Effect yet, but I hope to play the shit out of that and CoD4 come Christmas week (aka, my vacation) if I get what I asked for from Santa.

EDIT: The Marketplace for Demos is your friend. I bought the system and Gears of War, and I actually spent more time playing demos of everything than I did GoW. Then my fiancee bought me Dead Rising and Burnout Revenge, and it turned into a battle of who could wake up and run to the TV first (me, her or our roommate who won by default most of the time by sleeping on the couch).

It's really fun but can get repetitive.

My favorite game has been Mass Effect, but I am huge BioWare fan. Well and RPG fan in general I suppose and Bioware produces some of the best.

Oh Stereo.... I do take great heed of your advice but... pppppffffttt* that’s not an answer :-P

That's what I've been told... I'm just not sure what would be better for this moment in time though. Gears is one that teh ZOne has been buzzing about all year, but then HL2 is supose to be a game to end all games.

Gears is fun as hell. I am not denying it but the game isnt very long single / coop wise only like 10-12 hrs. Where as orange box you have about 40 hours worth of single player before playing Team Fortress 2.

Nice! Did they replace it with the same model, or did you get an elite out of the deal? Better question, do you have an HDMI port now if you didn't before?

Mine hasn't broke down (yet). By replacing your XBox, did you lose all of your game saves, or did MS transfer those to the new one? That would suck to lose all of your saved games.

I just removed my hard drive before sending it, so I assume that all my saves are still there. I will have to check when I get home from work.

The model looks the same... manufacture date is 12/15/07, it has two USB ports in the front, one usb and RJ45 in the back.

You'll have the new supremo version with HDMI and the second heatsink, (don't worry about that, you can't see it but it's there to stop RROD), overall you got quite the score there. Not a bad swap :)

Careful on your gamesaves though. When i bought new 360 my profile and savegames all showed as corrupt. Was very pissed off with this.

Careful on your gamesaves though. When i bought new 360 my profile and savegames all showed as corrupt. Was very pissed off with this.

Yeah, I am having trouble recovering my gamertag. I created a new one to play, but Xbox Live is a little bit of an issue right now. :(

Are you having trouble too? I am having a hell of a time logging into live this last week for some reason...

Okay, it's not just me. I kept getting so far and then I would get something about XboxLive signup is currently unavaible (or something like that). Maybe it's the influx of new users post Christmas :?

Mine will either not log me in or my name will log in and my messenger will not log in...

It has been annoying

If you are still getting the XBOX LIVE SIGNUP IS UNAVAILABLE, you need to call xbox live support. I had the same issue for DAYS!!!! It has nothing to do with the problems the service has had of late, its some caching issue on their servers and they need to clear it. Took about 40 mins after i phoned for the problem to be put right and i could recover my tag.
