Tracking down an Xbox 360

PostPosted: Sun Dec 25, 2005 7:33 pm

Okay, my poor mother went to the store at 6am to get me an xbox, but wasn't told by the jerks that she would need a ticket... one guy even sold his ticket for $200! I've heard tons of these stories, and so I really couldn't complain that my mom just floated me some cash to track one down for myself christmas morning. Question is, what's the best way to find one now? Do I wait for the next wave, or start prowling the targets and best buys and walmarts looking for a rogue shipment to come in?
Any advice which can help me in this quest is greatly appreciated, and my shiny new copy of Call of Duty 2 beckons that I complete it...

I'd just call all these stores and ask.

It's just not that easy, man, or I wouldn't ask for advice- I don't even know if anyone has found any after that first shipment, and asking at the stores only gets you an exasperated sigh from the retail workers...

My friend pre-ordered his months ago, and was told he would only be able to get it in January. I expect that happened to a lot of people, it looks like you're out of luck until February at least.

I'm waiting for Halo 3, by then I bet 360 will be at the most $250.

I'm not messing with the 360 until Xbox games are no longer being released. King Kong and Xmen: Legends II will keep me busy for a while.

I just got mine. Only a month and six days after it was "guaranteed" by Gamestop.

hehe... yeah, I don't wanna pay the crazy amounts they are charging on ebay- I may put down money somewhere to save myself trouble, since the old games keep me busy in the meantime...

I just got one (premium). I also have three games Kameo, COD 2, and Condemned. Plus an extra controller and a play and charge kit.

Never been opened or played or anything. I might be willing to part with it, if the price is right. How much you willing to pay?

seriously (at work we have a quota timer...)
it costs so much to snowboard on a regular basis
boards are $300+(mine retails for about $600)
bindings are $125+ for anything halfway decent
boots are $125+(more like $200 for anything comfortable)
goggles are $125+(oakley a-frames are an old favortie)
a decent lightweight moveable and warm jacket $175+(I've seen these get in the 2-300 range)
pants $100+
daily ticket $50+ (or a season pass for those lucky enough $1500+)

not counting upkeep and lodge food/beers...$1000 minimum just to get started. I had to stop for a while, but next year I think it's game on again once I have me this;

PS3 is the way to be.

Resident Evil 5 will make that system worth it on its own.

Resident Evil will make it to other consoles, and I'm still a big halo fan, halo 3 will justify the 360 for me.

Resident Evil 5 is no longer a time exclusive title. It will be released for the PS3 and 360 simultaneously (no word on the Revolution, due to the odd controller periphial).

Over the holidays my brother and I were in Yakima, Washington, where my parents live. To those (all of you) who don't know, Yakima is on the eastern side of the state, where temperatures are MUCH more extreme than they are in Seattle. While in Yakima, my brother heard that the Best Buy there was going to get a shipment of 24 360s. He decided to spend the night in front of BB. The low temperature for the night was 4 degrees Farenheit. He ended up with a touch of frostbite on his nose and an Xbox 360.

No glitches yet, but if any crop up I think he's going to burn down Microsoft.

Finally got it last night!
I walked into a best buy in West Covina, just killing time waiting for the traffic to die down before I headed home, and they had 20 of them at the tech counter. No bundles or bullshit, just went up, got my 360 and an extra wireless controller. So far, I really dig it. Thanks for all the encouragement, zoners!
Should I post pics of me making out with it, perhaps?

Have you played the Fight Night 3 demo yet?

It's a free download on Xbox Live.

I think those talking about Xbox 360 not being able to hang with the PS3 are shutting up right about now.

I think that should satisfy those saying that the 360 isn't "next gen" enough.

Wow. That looks cool, eh?

And here are some vids.

What most people doesn't realize is that the release games for the Xbox 360 only used one of the three processors available on the console. Think about that. The current 360 games are using only 1/3 of the power.
