B.O.M.B. Movie Game.

Postby MiltonWaddams on Mon Feb 13, 2006 1:21 am

I play bomb on road trips with friends, but nobody else seems to know what it is. I'm not sure where we even got it from, but it's a great game for movie nerds. The rules:

For instance, say you have three people: Tyler, Thad, Cody.

Tyler starts the round with a movie:

Tyler: (new) Dawn of the Dead

This means Cody has to think of an actor in dawn of the dead, so:

Cody: Mekhi Phifer

Now Thad is left with the challenge of thinking of another Mekhi Phifer movie.

Thad: 8 mile
Tyler: Kim Basinger
Cody: Waynes World 2
Thad: Christopher Walken
Tyler: True Romance
Cody: Dennis Hopper
Thad: Super Mario Bros. (in which dennis hopper played king koopa)
Tyler: Bob Hoskins
Cody: Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Thad: Christopher Lloyd
Tyler: Back to the Future
Cody: Micheal J. Fox
Thad: Doc Hollywood
Tyler: I dont know.......

This last one is where it gets interesting, because when Thad throws out Doc Hollywood, he better know someone else that was in that movie besides Fox - as Tyler will challenge him if he can't think of anyone. If Thad fails, he gets a letter, if he succeeds, Tyler does.

Vice versa with actors, say someone throws down The Sum of All Fears and I throw down Bruce McGill - this, of course stumps them - I better know another movie he's been in or I will get a letter.

The scoring that happens works just like the games horse or pig with basket ball, if you fuck up, you get a letter, get the last letter, and you're out of the game.

If everybody and their mother knows about this, which is entirely possible, totally ignore this. If not, try it on a road trip, it's fun. It's like that link the movies game, but more challenging.

Thoughts?

A terrible one, I know. It's short for Thaddeus, so he's sort of fucked either way.

I'd never heard of this before - I like it.

I am a nerd.

I do know (some) movies.

Now......

If I only had some friends - whats Thad up to these days? Tell him I think his name is cool

This game is from the movie Hide Away with none other than Jeff (he's watching you poop) Goldblum

In the movie he and his wife play the game and his kids make fun of the him and his wife for being such movie geeks. Why I know this I don't know but rent the movie and you'll see for yourself.

It is a fun game, but I think it's better played in person than on a t/b thread, too much time to think and all but I'll give it a shot

(so I say a movie, and someone has too name an actor from that movie, then the next person has too either name another actor from the first movie or another movie the previously mentioned actor was in right? If I'm wrong here please correct me)

ok movie:

Isn't the game pretty pointless on a message board ?

I mean, if your having fun then good . . . but I feel like it kinda/sorta only works playing in person

Yeah, it's totally trivial with IMDB, it's better in a car full of people.

I'm undefeated with all of my friends, but here's a tip. If someone says Drrew Barrymore, don't say E.T. We count voice-overs, James Earl Jones (go out on the Sandlot, whoo hoo!) counts in Star wars. Cameo's count, but only if the character says something, just existing in the back doesn't cut it.
