Ebuyer has one for under a ton, not sure on the reliability of Toshiba drives though.

Checked out Gamestop.com, and their refurbished 60mgs go for $430. So maybe I MIGHT consider it, but the thought of going to Wizard World or putting more money towards Japan may win over...

it is ALF easy to add a HDD to the PS3, in fact I'm looking at the port right now because of where the PS3 sits and it really is three screws and slide one out and the other in.

I am waiting to see if PSN goes to TV show and Movie downloads, I know it's coming but I am holding off on the purchase til that day is actually here.

Netflix has their name out there recently. I'm not sure if they are shooting for an either/or situation between MS and Sony but a monthly fee for unlimited downloads would be a great service. Hopefully Sony moves that way. I really like getting movies off XBL and the storage issue hasn't been an issue for me. I think people are lazy about cleaning out demo's for games from 2006.

well sony signed a deal with divx to encode all of their TV properties right around the time the PS3 update added DIVX playback...

so I'd say if nothing else we're getting some sony owned TV shows soon. Movies are probablly waiting til they can get a good 1080p streaming sollution going since they're all about true HD as they put it.

I hadn't thought about streaming HD admittedly.

And Sony does have a lot of entertainment media going for it. They'll figure it out. It's Sony.

But then....do they want to move into HD downloads when they also want Blu-Ray supported.....but then Netflix has Blu-Ray's now.....and MS could do Blu-Ray add-ons.....oh the headaches of a post-format war.....

that's why I think they'll only go HD streaming using the HDD as a buffer.

if they do downloads I see them pushing 720p and then offering a click to buy now option and you get ful use of the online version and the BD in the mail.

Pop quiz hotshots.

I have just got £50 off a mate, I want to buy COD4 and Burnout Paradise, but can only afford one...

What do you do? What do you do?

COD4. No contest. One of the best FPS's I've ever played. Graphically, it's amazing. Constantly runs smooth at 60fps. I think I found ONE moment of slowdown in the whole thing. Multiplayer is godly. It's one of the most varied and "never boring" multiplayer games I've had the pleasure of playing.

Burnout Paradise... I can't comment on. I don't own it, and only played the disappointing demo. Put it this way, if you're in the mood for a fun shooter, buy COD4. If you're in the mood for driving, buy BP :)

I had the worst 'playstation claw' last night, damn Burnout! :D

My, "I'll just drive around for a bit and try a few races", became a 4 hour session that left me unable to unclench my hands.

I've got 8(!) cars and found just over 100 smashes, my C class license and a few Awards.

One question, what is a Showtime Road Rule? Award 3 is, set a Showtime Road Rule on East Crawford Drive. I set a fastest time, so is a road rule the crashing (L1 + R1)sub game?

Is the the Krieger Pioneer?

I finally got online last night. After opening the ports on my router, I managed to complete my first on-line challenge, and badly lost my first race! :D

I dont know, I refused to even consider a PS3 until I got my HDTV.

Your pal will really wanna upgrade soon. You can get a passable HDTV like I did for about $600. Once you go HDTV you don't go back.

I think Moriarty's favorite feature is the complete and utter brickification of the PS3.

Actually, that's not fair, his got bricked a month and a half ago. The new one he got in the mail was messed up from the start, and after the update it was a brick. Poor guy. Sony can be fucking stupid sometimes. My friend bought a refurbished PS2 back in the day, DIRECTLY FROM SONY. Then the network adapter came out, he bought it, aaaaaaaand... it didn't work. He called up, found out that the N.A. wasn't compatible with refurbs. Brillant, Sony. Brilliant. Took them 6 weeks to get him a new system that would work with it.

he was unlucky, AND sony screwed him over by trying to fix and send back the same PS3 instead of replacing it. it's obvious the one he got back wasn't a new one, and wasn't really fixed.

Glad this thread got dragged out again, can anyone tell me what the deal is with PS1 backwards compatibility? Is it available on the 80 gig system?

I'd prefer to find an unopened 60 gig and just replace the hard drive, to get hardware B/C for PS2, but I'm specifically wondering which versions of the PS3 can play PS1 games.

Well you can download some PS1 games. I assume that works on all systems. The backwards compatability of PS1 games i assume works on any backwards compatable system, aka 60GB and 80 GB.

honestly I found nothing wrong so far with the software B/C in my 80gig PS3. plus if you don't have one yet you can get the MGS4 PS3 with the game, special gunmetal gray finish (less dust and fingerprint appearance issues) and the dualshock 3 not a plain sixaxis.

well if you dont mind used games you can basically keep the games you rent for a discount off retail and then they ship the untouched box and inserts.

plus I find I buy less games when I'm signed up.

Hey King, so your 80gb model with software emulation for PS2 B/C does or does not play PS1 discs when they are put into the drive? People on the Penny Arcade forums keep whining about how the PS3 "doesn't have B/C anymore," and I think they're confusing software replacing hardware.

I mean, you are still be able to go into your 80gb's system settings and create a PS1 memory card on the hard drive, right?
