Yeah, something to do with all of those small wrist movements.

I'm glad to see that Nintendo has caught on to what I'ev been saying for years...

'Spin Little Mario, SPIN!!!!! Get into that star porthole.....'

etc, etc.... I can go on some times....

I just watched the X-Play Wii show, and have peeped all the stuff on IGN. This may come as a shock to some of you....But I think I'm gonna go with the 360. I'll get a Wii later. Maybe when it drops to $200 or $150

Yeah, and like I said, you just know MS is at work on their version of the Wiimote, and alot of those 3rd party Virtual-games will end up on LIVE-arcade at some point.
The IGN GOW reviews have me salivating.

I wonder how much of a visual downgrade a 360 game would receive due to shifting the processing between the graphix and the motion active controller....

Couldn't be any worse than the Wii. Plus after watching X-Play, I think the wiimote could start to become a pain in the ass on certain games....especially FPSers.

Wonka enjoy your new Toy. They are goodness wrapped in plastic. The boxing game (I don't remember the name now, it was a launch title) is really fu&^ing good.... If you can find a HD tv and play that.... all I'll say is WOW!

Probably not much, if at all, as the peripheral is the thing to convert the signal to control programming.

MS aren't making one, but a third party peripherals company is.

Thats the way it looks to me too, bit of a scam there. Just tallying up the cost of what I'll have to fork out on launch day.

works out at about £310

I take it you're buying 2 games and an extra nunchuck and wiimote, right?

Could do what I'm planning to do and get Wii Play - that way you get 3 games and a nunchuck for only slightly more than you're already planning to pay

Oh, and one more problem i'm facin; I need a decent sized TV, otherwise I'll have to leave the Wii at my girlfriends and she'll steal it.....any of you selling one (UKers that is)? or know someone who is?

Nothing too fancy, just a crt between 27 and 34 inches, for around £100 - £150

Ah - I get you Lugz: you're right, you'll need the nunchuck on top of the wiimote you get with Wii play.

I'm in the same boat as you, TV-wise. Part of me actually wants to see how the Wii works on my shitty "old faithful", but I have a nasty feeling that the time may finally have come for me to get a TV which wasn't made last millenium

Currys have a Philips 24" crt for £125.

Does anyone know what the "Classic Wii Controller" is for? Is it just a joypad for those who don't want to use the remote or is there a specific need for it?

It's for Virtual Console games

It can also be used as a Gamecube controller, but GC controllers cannot be used for Virtual Console games.

Or maybe I've got that the wrong way around. I'm tired, leave me alone.

I'll take your word for it!

....so you're saying that the Classic Controller is actually a GC controller, but can't be used to play Virtual Console games, whereas a standard GC controller can?

In other news, a couple of reports have comethrough saying that you can use a Freeloader to play your old imported GC games. That is seriously good news, since half my GC games are imports!

Both the classic controller and the GC controller can be used to play VC games, but the GC one doesn't work with all the games. There are some icons on the information site when you download/buy the VC games that show what controllers you can use, ie Wiimote, GC or CC.
I am not sure that the CC can be used to play GC games, but it would be great if it could. Meaning you would only be forced to buy some CC and not both CC and GC controllers.

Cut me some slack - I was playing Gears of War till frakking 4 in the morning - I've had about 3 hours sleep!

Not to worry! I'll happily pay a visit to your AC town - any fruit you don't have?

The next big DS wi-fi game for me is ISS Pro Evo - end of January.

I also have Star Fox, if any wants some online sky battles!

How is Star Fox? I am looking for good multiplayer games for the DS. My friend and I want some good games to play during our trip to Germany this weekend.
I was thinking about Age of Empires or Lego Star Wars just for the co-op modes, but I dunno.

I'm really enjoying it actually - but it's an import so I don't know if you'll be able to get it in time for this weekend (you live in Europe, right?).

I don't know much about Age of Empires, but I have enjoyed the Cube version of Lego SW immensely. Not sure how well it would translate onto the DS's interface, but for an excellent review of the game, go here

I'll be there in spirit from my nice warm bed at home.

Are they expecting a big turnout? I can see you running into the door like so much Christmas sale stock footage, screaming and treading on small frail children’s spines screaming ‘gimmy, gimmy, gimmy, gimmy….’

Kirk would be a good person to take with you, he needs to vent some of that anger, and punshing small children to the ground in the name of technology always helps.

I might pop along to Oxford St, but I won't be buying one there - it's too late to risk losing the safety net of my pre-order.

Annoyingly, my local GAME still hasn't decided whether to do a midnight opening or not, but I have the friday off so I can wait. Like I say, if I'm not doing anything that evening, I'll probably head down to Oxford St if you're going Lugz - it's only 15 minutes away from my gaff, and I want to share in the joy of your first Wii!

At the moment, I think these are going to be my launch day purchases now:

Zelda
Wii Play (w/ controller)
Nunchuck
Classic Controller
£20 worth of Wii Points
....and maybe Call Of Duty or Far Cry Vengeance
