Don't be hard on yourself Atomic. I've only ever gone to one..... sure I was in another country before that, but a true Zoner has no excuse.

Plus Atomic I think that going to NIN concerts and the like excuses you to some extent!

Monkey, I haven't been able to find any pics - but I did find this rather nice modded NES:

The only problem I have had is the short battery life of the controller and the inability to turn the sound off on the controller

The best thing about the wii will be when i get to play metroid prime:corruption and the controls feeling as quick and slick as the keyboard and mouse...cus how i bloody hate dual analog for fps games!!

Rechargable batteries! Wave of the future!

So, Bob--overall, how satisfied are you with your purchase? Are the games out right now pretty good, or are they only scratching the surafce of what the system can do?

I definitely plan to get one at some point, mainly for the party games. Just wondering what your initial impressions are.

What kind of batteries does the wiimote take? AA?

How is the online connection? Have you tried to download any games yet?

The controller does require 2 AA batteries.

Overall my family and I are very satisfied. The games are basic (at least the ones I have found and played) but fun. I have downloaded the original Zelda and Donkey Kong and had lots of fun with those. The news and weather channels are not up yet here so I cannot comment on those. When you do download something it is really quick. Not much to do online except download, as I do not have any other friends with the Wii. I am playing the new Zelda right now and it is lots of fun. The system makes it loads easier to aim and fire arrows and the boomerang.

Still cannot wait for some of the more fleshed out games though.

Perfect no problems at all. Only problem I had was if direct sunlight hits the remote it gets kinda hinky. We just closed the blinds and eveything was ok.

That is so funny... wasn't half obvious that it was gonna happen. I know that the wire on my cube controller acted like a restraint for those 'precious' moments. Ahhh.... the angry youth of today. We need a good war to get rid of all of those hot streaks.

Ok.. I went to HMV OXFORD ST last night to get some details about next Thursday nights launch.

They said that even if you pre-order there is no garauntee you will get one. it all depends on your position in the queue. I asked the guy what time he expects people to start linig up and he said probably in the morning.

Im at work all day so i'm gonna head down there for about 5.30pm and see what kind of state the queue is in.

Lol... I haven't even set it up yet. Shame on me, I know, but I have way too much shit to do. On another note, I got to Target at 6:15 this morning and when we finally got vouchers at 7:30, I sat in my car and laughed at the sheer number of people walking up to the store 15-20 minutes before opening thinking that they could get a Wii. Oh, and it was really, really fucking cold for that hour. Hope it was worth it.

So, who (if anyone) is coming down to the Wii launch with me tomorrow?

I'll be at Oxford Street HMV from about 5.30pm, mind you, if the queue is ridiculously long I might reconsider

I booked Monday off too, and my local GAME is opening at 7am on Friday, so my weekend will be mostly Wii, Wii, Zonies, Wii, Wii etc...

GAME aren't doing any proper discount bundles though  - they claim this is because Nintendo have flooded the market to ensure that everybody gets one. With this in mind, you probably don't strictly need to get one on Launch night Lugz (I'm now convinced that your Woolworth's plan would work). But I can appreciate the need to queue up with a crowd of enthusiastic Wii-ers.

I'm gonna call you when I get out of work (usually around 7 or 8) - and if you're still there, I shall probably come and say hi for a bit...
