I found the shopping mall to be the creepiest level. Once you get to the police station or whatever, you kind of know what to expect. But the first time through the mall really got me.

It's a pretty well designed game, level-wise and other. Every level has got something the others didn't: wide open spaces, extreme darkness, tight ambush sites, maze-like corridors, and endurance combat scenes get you really hopping.

Predictable it is not. So far I would say Condemned was the 360 biggest sleeper game.

Prototype

Sounds pretty cool...

Radical Entertainment talks more Prototype

A little while back, GameSpot AU had the chance to do a fairly in-depth preview of Radical Entertainment's upcoming open-world action game Prototype. But we also tracked down Radical's Chris Ansell for more information about the game, which puts you in the shoes of a super-powered mutant running through the streets of New York. In the video below, Ansell breaks down Prototype's main storyline, chats about the mysterious Blackwatch enemies hero Alex will face, unveils details behind the game's multiplayer modes, and much more.
.

He goes on about the deceive or destroy thing a bit much, but the idea sounds really solid.

Good news for both the X-Box 360 and PS3 owners.

The long-anticipated Devil May Cry 4 demo is on Live and PSN!

Devil May Cry is a 3D fighting adventure game with a deep combo system, crazy action, and awesome boss fights. This franchise has always been one of the best out there in this regard, even when you take into account the cheesy dialogue and cliched stories.

Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive already. The game goes on sale February 5th. This is one of those instances where high quality will cause players to appreciate the game even if action fighters aren't your cup of tea. Probably one of the best games coming out this year.

Devil May 3 was one of my personal favorites for the PS2.

Didn't they have to release a second version of the game because it was too tough?

I read that too. Like it was a port and they made significant changes. I also heard that it was one of the hardest games ever made. Like Ninja Gaiden and F-Zero GX hard.

But I can't remember what it was ported to....PSP?

The Special Edition version they released later had an easier skill level setting so that it was more accessable to casual gamers.

Devil May Cry is no button masher on Normal difficulty and higher. You have to learn the combos and time your actions against what the opponent is doing. When you get it right though it's very satisfying. In DMC 3 there are half a dozen memoral boss battles at least. Some of the best I've ever completed.

Ninja Gaiden has an equally good fighting system but it cannot compare when it comes to environments and overall design.

LOST IN TIME - vintage adventure game by Sierra

Postby Roberrific on Tue Feb 05, 2008 9:10 pm

This looks like it may have been the Granddaddy of the Adventure Games by Sierra-on-line ..

LOST IN TIME I was out yard saleing in Muskoka this summer in a rented car with an old girlfriend - looking to impress her I stopped at this absolute JUNK STORE by the side of Highway 11 and we browsed

low and behold I found a real treasure in a crate of old bottles.

The guy said to me give me ten bucks and you can have the whole crate... And I said no. because neither the crate nor the bottles are worth anything - Just the game, and he said 'take it' its yours and I thought how silly of him as I would have paid five bucks for the game... anyway its a game called Lost in Time - before you were born he was plotting your doom...

Image

And it has really old crummy graphics on the front of a cute girl and a portal behind her containing all manner of male villains.. the screen captures on the back are absolutely primitive!

I mean it looks like Commodore Basic on the back – and I have everything, all twelve 3.5 inch disk, a boot and faq manual and game sheets.

Image

Does anyone on here remember this game? Wha's it like and how much money do you think its worth today?

Man, I'm so losing unless there's budget for some good acting and an orchestral soundtrack.

Now I know this isn't news to everyone but.....

Morroblivion

The Mod community have started a conversion of Morrowind for the Oblivion Engine.

If Bethesda let this go through I will never have to buy another game again......

It would make Oblivion the largest game on the planet...and possibly the most involving of all time.

Looks to be a somewhat shoddy port and the multiplayer cannot hold a candle to COD4 or UT3. I love demos, they're so great at helping separate the wheat from the chaffe.

Here's a release date list of games I'm interesting in.

ARMY OF TWO March 6th

CONDEMNED 2 - BLOODSHOT March 14th

DARK SECTOR March 29th

GRAND THEFT AUTO 4 April 29th

HAZE May ???

TOO HUMAN May ???

METAL GEAR SOLID 4 – GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS June 12

BATTLEFIELD – BAD COMPANY June ???

Yea I think Lost Planet is an example of not knowing the hardware. You might want to stay away from that one KP.

No GT5 on your list Dyno? Not a fan?

I'm curious what EA did with Army of Two. I think it's been delayed to make it better. But that means it wasn't very good to begin with.

Since we're doing releases of anticipation!:

For my 360

March-Universe at War, RS: Vegas 2

April-GTA4

May-Too Human maybe

June-Ninja Gaiden 2, Lego Indy!!!

July-Probably the Lego Batman!!! End War?

August-Fable 2 maybe...

September-Force Unleashed maybe?

October-Mercenaries 2

November-Gears 2

December-Banjo

It bums me out cause I always dug the concept of Lost Planet.

I'll probablly wait til it hits the clearence bin since I do enjoy the demo some but know it's far from perfect.

Until I get a Starship troopers FPS it will have to stand in.

I do like what I've seen of Haze so far but can't decide on what to get next. I may just wait for Resistance 2.

Brütal Legend

Postby King Psyz on Fri Mar 14, 2008 10:23 pm

wikipedia wrote:Brütal Legend follows the story of Eddie Riggs (named for Eddie the Head, the mascot of Iron Maiden, and Derek Riggs, the artist who created him), who is living as a roadie for a Heavy Metal band. The game begins one night before a gig. As Riggs is tuning a guitar, an accident happens and he starts to bleed, his blood dripping onto his cursed belt buckle, which bears a strong resemblance to Motörhead's Snaggletooth emblem. Before he knows it, the beast on his buckle has come alive and transported him into a Heavy Metal and Nordic fantasy inspired alternate history where demons have enslaved humanity.

After escaping the Temple of Ormagöden, where he first appears in the Heavy Metal past, Eddie meets Ophelia, a love interest likened to the same character from Shakespeare's Hamlet. Ophelia is soon severely injured and Riggs must climb a mystical mountain to do battle with a motorcycle driving bass guitarist (voiced by Motörhead's Lemmy), called the Kill Master (reference to Lemmy's last name Kilmister)-- an ironic name for a guy whose riffs are said to heal wounds. Eddie will also meet Lita Halford (a double-reference to Lita Ford and Rob Halford) and her younger brother, Lars (probably named after Lars Ulrich), who help Eddie and Ophelia start a resistance movement against Lord Dolivicus, his Glam metal minion, General Lionwhyte (voiced by Rob Halford and a reference to the band White Lion), whose hair is so luscious, he uses it to fly (maybe an ironic reference to Halford's baldness), and their legions of demons to free the world. Eddie will also encounter the local wildlife, including half boar/half motorcycle "Razorfires", a giant three-tongued lamprey (that gets its tongues run over by the Deuce), and giant chrome spiders that spin silk which can be made into magical bass strings.

After the first act of the game, Eddie will deal with a community of humans who willingly fight alongside the demons. They wear black and "drink from a sea of black tears. It gives them great power but also makes them look dead." These humans are obvious parodies of Goth and Emo, or, indeed, Metal itself. These enemies include "Grave Diggers", "Brides" and "Reapers" that wear bondage gear.

In the game's first trailer, a goofy-looking pink demon tells Eddie that his belt buckle is a mask "forged from the steel flesh of the fire beast", and that it was meant for "a god", "not a roadie". Eddie then snaps the demon's neck and charges into battle with the Headbangers to the tunes of Black Sabbath's The Mob Rules. The trailer also shows that Eddie has the ability to sprout wings so he can fly. According to the Game Informer article, "his blood hides a dark secret and his wings are the proof".

Source
Anotherwords, KICKFUCKINASS!'

PLus we get the vocal talents of
Eddie Riggs - Jack Black, comedian/actor/vocalist for Tenacious D
Kill Master - Lemmy, bass guitarist/vocalist for Motörhead
General Lionwhyte - Rob Halford, vocalist for Judas Priest
(Unnamed Role) - Ronnie James Dio, former singer of Black Sabbath, singer for Heaven and Hell and Dio.

Seriously, I'm more stoked on this than I could ever be for Metal Gear Solid.

Did a 13yo buy hookers with dad's credit card?

A widely published story that a 13-year-old has been convicted of fraud after stealing his dad's credit card and ordering two prostitutes from an escort agency may be a hoax.

The original story said Ralph Hardy used the card to take his friends on a $US30,000 spending spree that ended with them playing Halo on an Xbox with prostitutes in a Texas motel, according to a Money.co.uk report.

However police from the county where the alleged incident was supposedly took place say the story doesn't stack up.

Newark county police spokeperson Amy Cromer said, "As far as we know, this story is a hoax. There have not been any arrests here, and we're not aware of any convictions like that in this county."

According to the story police were alerted by a concerned delivery clerk who delivered soft drinks and junk food to the teens' motel room, and were asked by the group where they could find some women and were willing to pay.

They told him they had won a World of Warcraft tournament and wanted to relax.

By the time the police arrived the two $1000-a-night escorts were playing on the Xbox with the boys.

The teens reportedly told the prostitutes they were "people of restricted growth" working in a travelling circus, and couldn't refuse them because it would be discriminating against the disabled, which is against Texas law.

The two girls sensed something was wrong when the boys preferred to play Halo rather than engage in their services.

Hardy allegedly told police his father wouldn't mind because he forgot to buy him a present for his birthday the week before.

Hardy is quoted as saying that when he's older, he wants to be a politician.

Whether that story is true or not, it's fucking funny.

Very interesting. Incredibly interesting.

Really enjoyed that.

I especially like the 'Hail Satan' and the Information Society 3 minute transmission, which had me glued to my seat. I'm still curious whether it's real or not.

In addition to "Disgaea" for the Nintendo DS, NIS is going to release "Rhapsody" for the DS. It's a remake of the PS1 game about a Princess and her puppet friend (Who's controlled by the soul of her deceased friend) who try to rescue a Prince accidentally turned to stone. Dismiss it as a girly game, but it has a cult following in the US.

Info from IGN

Another one coming out this Halloween is the Burton-inspired "A Witch's Tale".

Bishie vamp boys...me likey

And Ubi Soft is bringing out "My Chinese Coach" and "My Japanese Coach" for the DS. FINALLY!
