I can review this game now in my God of War 2 spoiler-free style.

You are a person of questionable moral standing in a large city. You fuck shit up, and have fun doing it.

And again I say, ive been doing it since Gears of War came out.

After San Andreas this series is extremely stale. They really need to breath new life into it. Take us back to the freaking 80's. Vice City was a blast.

Great review!

I think it's awesome that this is coming to he 360 on the launch date! No more waiting around. Although I was never really that big of a GTA fan. I'm much more hyped for MASS EFFECT, ASSASIN'S CREED, and HALO 3.

GTA3 was amazing for it's time. Vice City raised the bar considerably. San Andreas added the final few tweaks to make it really great. Now they get to do the next-gen graphics/physics thing and it will be even better. The other games were just a beta test for what we're going to get (I hope!).

couldnt disagree more.

san andreas was everything that vice city was, and then some. extremely stale? i hardly think so. if you want to revisit vice city again, just pick up Vice City Stories. its like vice city part 2.

i have nothing other than overwhelming confidence that rockstar will knock one out of the park, yet again, with the next gen GTA.

I wonder what time period (if like Vice City and San Andreas) GTA4 will focus on/be set. I would hope for something like an amalgam 70's vibe....

Nah...
They should make a futuristic GTA...

Like Blade Runner - but where you can shoot and fuck anybody...

And steal flying cars...
Then you could smack into people or birds...

That would get me to dust off the old CalicoVision...

There was a supplement for GTA 2 which took place in London during the 60s. Really cool, actually. But this will likely take place modern day, because I think lots of record labels will be scrambling to get their music on the in-game radio.

I'm with the Vice City malarky.

Loved the sound track.

GTA:San Andreas was no-where near as much fun, even though it had more side missions (which, lets face it - is the fun part).

4 should definately be set over different continents and have a much more global feel.

It would be awesome to have interpol after you.

If you look at the logo you get a present day or possibly a slight futuristic vibe from it. What I want from this game is all the features from San Andreas plus online co-op as good as the one in Crackdown. Then I will be happy.

Co-op would be cool, but what I really want is mmog....like, everbody on the street is someone real. I know that's not gonna be the case, but it's ok to dream right?

Why would you want MMO? No one would want to be a "content person walking down the street" so the entire game would be nothing but people running around destroying things.

Too bad it can't be MMO with your choice of being a criminal or a cop.

OR TERRORISTS!!!

And I would make Jack Bauer rise in the ranks of the CIA to CTU and then kick the terrorists' ASSES!!!

Sorry, 24 redux.

But a Grand Theft Auto 4: Cops vs. Robbers MMO would rock.

Clans= Precincts or Gangs

Rankings= Stature in Gang or Rank in Police Force.

Better Weapons for police, but better skills for the criminals.

That would own.

What's wrong with that? It would be like "riot-mode".

I mean, it could maybe be set up as just one of many internet/live options.

But imagine actually being in massive clans/gangs....constantly at war....it would be so sweet. A PKer's paradise to be sure, but I think it would be fun as hell.

For music. I would love the early 90's.

EMF, Take That (for a laugh) and there was some great house music about then.

That would certainly rock but I would love the setting to be England, America, China and a Middle Eastern Cuntry. That would be so cool to catch a plane between them all while having vast playing areas for each.

90's would only be cool if I could walk around in a Pearl Jam shirt, a messenger bag laced with alternative band metal buttons and a froppy haircut with hair drooping over my eyes.

And Chuck Connors. Can't forget those.

They need to do it nowadays, with soundtracks encompassing ALL three previous games.

Call it a GTAPod of sorts.

Come on you guys know it's going to be great Fun. San Andreas was an amazing game, AMAZING! The next gen graphics will just kick it up a notch, especially if Rockstar will be using their RAGE game engine (same engine found in 'Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis'). I hope that it has multiplayer. That was the only thing that I didn't like. You want to kick some shit with your brother g's on the box, not just have people watch you.

Here's some more Info I was able to find from around the net...

The game is being written by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser. GTA IV has been nominated for a 2006 Golden Joystick Award in the One To Watch For 2007 category.

Episodic content
During Microsoft's 2006 E³ press conference on May 9, it was announced that Grand Theft Auto IV would be available for the Xbox 360 and that Rockstar will offer exclusive episodic content via Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 version. This had been confirmed by Rockstar, announcing two extra, exclusive episodes.[5] After the press conference, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, posted a press release announcing Grand Theft Auto IV will be released simultaneously for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. On February 28, 2007 it was announced that exclusive episodic content will be introduced starting in 2008.[6]

Peter Moore, head of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division announced that Rockstar Games is working on two downloadable packs for GTA IV exclusively on the 360, which will probably be available within months of the game's release date. Moore described the downloads as "epic episode packs," and not just an extra car or character. A press release during the conference said that the packs would add "hours of entirely new gameplay" to the game.[7] There have been no details on pricing of the downloads revealed. The nature of exclusivity on these episodes is still in vague detail.

Oh and Lazlow Jones has been confirmed to be in the game's cast.

Im just not a fan. SA was so repititous. I mean some people enjoy doing the same thing over and over but not me. Its always Point A to B missions and asassinations. I dont even mind that, but the game was bigger then the technology so the graphics were terrible. Gameplay was alright. The cars were great, but jumping and moving was the ultimate "hey its the same as the third one, 5 years ago" fun. Obviously the dialogue is great. The storylines have always been the same throughout each of the games. The game has this aura of "buy me, everyone else did."

I probably enjoyed Vice City because of the style and soundtrack. It was lively and exciting. San Andreas was so grim. And the Vegas area was not as great as it could have been. I could go on forever about it but I wont.

I think this new GTA will probably be pretty awesome. At least it will be nice to have an upgraded graphics engine that can handle pop-in from 20 feet.

I was thinking of it in the sense that the cops can get automatic weapons like MP5's and p90's easier than gangbangers.

But, reverse is cool too.

GTA IV to take place in New York?!

The possibilities of that are pretty freakin' rad. Spider-Man 2 did a nice job of opening up the NYC map and letting you explore, but imagine if you could use subways, go for a shoot-out in Times Squar, climb any skyscraper you want. Pretty awesome, IMO.

Two days until the trailer!

There's a trailer being released soon???? Cool.... please don't be on a site my work blocks.....

Oct 2007 release date, well that's a hell of a lot sooner then I was expecting. I hope that this game really pushes the PS3's hardware instead of just fitting into the framework. New York could look amazing! I bet you can shoot pidgins and find Alligators in the sewers....

I'm SO FUCKING SORRY if I've missed naything but is this being called GTA 4?

I know Vice City was a kinda halfway game... but was San Adreas not IV?

If not, and this is 4 then is that because they make massive leaps and bounds with each game?

In which case it saves any fear of the series becoming stale because VC and SA where pretty much expensive add ons. And I can look forward to some new shit.

So this is out in October... its set in New York.... IV?

REALLY!?!

I'm arguing with my self now, and I'm loosing! I think AT LEAST San Andreas should have been IV...
