Star Trek Online!

Postby burlivesleftnut on Sat Aug 04, 2007 12:51 am

Website is up, and there is a cool demo of how they create worlds. I am not sure how this game could realistically capture the openness of the ST universe, but I would be interested in checking it out. There is not much info on the site about gameplay, but it's kind of fun nonetheless.

I got a key for the open beta and was going to try it out until I saw it involved a 6gig download.

And the game proper costs £40 plus you have to pay £10 monthly subscription to play it. Cuss that.

LOL!

Aren't they doing a Star Wars one as well? And is there already a sci-fi MMOPRGRPGXOXXO?

http://kotaku.com/tag/startrekweek/

Throughout the week, Kotaku will look at all things Star Trek, including hands-on impressions of the new Star Trek Online video game and some broader looks at what the Star Trek phenomenon means to people who love video games. Look for the tag Star Trek Week and join the conversation.

Not a big trekkie myself, but thought some of you lot might like to have a look.
...and so forth.

They are doing a Star Wars one, it's called Star Wars: The Old Republic and it's made by Bioware (who made KOTOR, Dragon Age: Origins, Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect, etc etc (i.e. everything they touch turns to gold)). I'm pretty excited about it. Trek might be fun too, I might give it a shot.

There are a couple of other MMORPGRGRMDOSIFMNDIXOXXOs that take place in space too, I think, but I've never played them.
