That's cool. If they're going that route, they should finish those infamous "beta levels" from Sonic 2: http://tinyurl.com/yad5bp8

Rom hackers have made those levels over & over.

Yeah, but I'm talking about completed, official versions, rather than ones that use music from or pieces of other levels. Also since I'm a n00b I don't have any ROM haxxorz (roflcopter!!!1oneofus!1).

Some of them have music written specifically for them.

Many of the prototype remakes feature no music, as it wouldn't have been coded at that point.

Sonic 2 also uses a different sound engine from sonic 1, so i don't think the Green Hill Zone in Sonic 2 beta had it's theme either, unless they had yet to make that part of the engine.

Yeah. I guess also a part of me also likes the idea of those levels being redesigned with some of the features of the more popular hack versions in mind. Obviously that's probably not gonna happen and I wouldn't really expect them to, I just think it'd be cool.

i think Sega will do the same as Nintendo did with NSMB Wii.

It'll be like Sonic 3+knuckles, but with a few new features that work with motion controls & a handful of powerups/shields.

I downloaded the demo on Xbox 360 the other day. Looks pretty cool. Certainly better than the craptastic 15th anniversary Sonic the Hedgehog game where the best part of game play was the music. Might treat myself to an early xmas present with STH4.

Yeah. I played it too and I was instantly transported back to my high school years playing in my room on my Genesis listening to the radio...
