Moriccone is so great because hes worked in all kinds of genres, plus his musical ideas are just brilliant. I mean would Leones films be as good without that iconic music underneath the visuals?
Hes done spaghetti westerns, gialli, polizioteschi, American crime films, sci fi films, romantic films and lots more.
John Williams will always be the king of Hollywood action/sci fi/adventure film scores. His pieces are heavenly. Jaws, Superman, ET, Raiders = timeless masterpieces for sure.

"Bit By Bit" (Theme From Fletch) and "Fletch, Get Outta Town". Those are guilty pleasures I guess.I think my favorite score is Basil Poledouris' for Conan. Overall I voted for Herrmann. Ask me tommorrow I might say Morricone.
