This is an evolving catalog of every film (theater and DVD) that you watch during 2007.
Also, it's a good place to recommend other films and even argue over film ratings (or see how your own rating of a particular film may have changed over time).
It's also a great way to see how many films you've watched per month/year, etc. (and as many have suggested, perhaps we'll see who has watched the most films at the end of the year).
HAVE FUN!

Initial viewings marked in BOLD.
***January***
1:
1.Inside Man - (8/10) A solid crime film with two solid perfomances and apt direction.
2.United 93 - (8/10) Honest, and respectful while being the best 9/11 film...yet!
3:
3.Spiderman 2 - (8/10) Better than the first one due to a more realistic villian.
4.Sideways - (8/10) Who knew wine was so much fun?
4:
5.Snakes on a Plane - (6/10) This couldn't live up to the hype, but it seems as if it could have been better.
6:
6.The Producers - (6/10) If you like Mel Brooks, and you don't mind musicals, this is worth your time despite having Matthew "I haven't been good since War Games" Broderick.
7.Twins - (8/10) One of the best buddy comedies ever, with Arnold and DeVito in top form.
7:
8.Bubba Ho Tep - (7/10) Bruce Campbell took care of business while balancing campy with an honest portrayal of the King.
9.Star Wars Episode I : The Phantom Menace - (7/10) Although this prequel seems to hold up better than I remember, it gets five points for the coolness of Darth Maul, one for Neeson, and one for what could have been.
9:
10.Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - (6/10) I enjoy Gene Wilder much more than Depp, but Freddy Highmore is a much better Charlie.
11.Batman (89) - (9/10) Some people fault Jack's Joker, but I think he steals the show.
10:
12.Mr. and Mrs. Smith - (7/10) Solid action with great chemistry from the leads.
12:
13.Domino - (7/10) While this is one of Scott's weaker efforts, I'm a fan of Rourke, Knightley, and the sometimes dizzying cinematography.
13:
14.Crank - (8/10) Balls-out action that doesn't stop or take itself too seriously.
14:
15.The Hard Way - (7/10) Woods and Fox are both great in this great buddy cop film with a twist.
17:
16.Bug - (7/10) 1st sign of the apocalypse: A film that Jamie Kennedy doesn't suck in.
17.Prince of Egypt - (7/10) A very sold animated film of the exodus, but I was constantly thinking of Heston's Moses.
19:
18.Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure - (5/10) Although you get a coked up Carlin, it doesn't hold up as well as I had hoped.
20:
19.Mission Impossible 3 - (8/10) I was hooked from the opening seconds and Cruise proved that even though he's insane, he's still got it.
20.Big Momma's House 2 - (4/10) Fairly terrible, but as family entertainment, I've seen worse.
21.Two for the Money - (5/10) I like football and betting, but this movie just didn't click with me.
23:
22.The Wedding Crashers - (7/10) Solid, not as good as Old School, and I'm still waiting for Vaughn to play a different character in a film.
23.Wayne's World - (7/10) Silly, and it held up better than I thought it would.
24:
25.Twister - (8/10) After living through one of these, I've always been a fan of tornados and this Hollywooded version of them wasn't too bad.
25:
26.City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold - (5/10) Pales next to the original, but I'll watch pretty much anything with Palance, probably because he'd hunt me down and skin me if I didn't.
26:
27.The 40-Year Old Virgin - (9/10) The best comedy in recent years, which really put Carell on the map.
27:
28.Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith - (7/10) The best of the prequels, but Lucas should have let Maul live to fight Anakin in this one instead of Dooku.
29.U.S. Marshals - (7/10) Cashes in on The Fugitive, but it's still entertaining, if you like Jones.
30:
30.Firewall - (5/10) Harrison Ford is getting old, and I think he better hurry up and do Indy 4, because he's ready for the grandpa roles.
***February***
2:
31.Wallace and Grommit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit - (8/10) The most fun, clever, and exciting animated film I've seen since The Incredibles.
32.Billy Madison - (7/10) Sandler's schtick gets a little old, but you can't help but laugh at a re tard.
3:
33.King Kong (2005) - (8/10) Twenty minutes too long, but one of the best adventure films in years that seemed lessened following the stellar LOTR films.
34.Wayne's World 2 - (6/10) Not as good as the first, but with a few good gags.
35.Die Hard - (10/10) Possibly the perfect action film, so much so that nearly every action film that followed based their hero on McClane in some way.
5:
36.Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - (7/10) Jar Jar is bad, but not as bad as Jake Lloyd.
7:
37.Bastards of the Party - (6/10) While I agree with the anti-gang message coming from one-time gang leaders, it seemed like it was perhaps "too little, too late."
11:
38.A Few Good Men - (8/10) Worth watching for the last scene alone.
39.Mr. and Mrs. Smith - (7/10) I wish more movies were as fun as this one.
40.King Kong (2005) - (8/10) Weta did some great special effects here, and that stampede wasn't quite as bad as I remembered.
12:
41.Aquamarine - (2/10) My favorite movie... if I was a 12-year old homosexual with a fetish for mermaids, bad CGI and worse acting.
13:
42.kiss kiss, bang bang - (9/10) A quirky and fun comedy/action flick about Hollywood, homocide, and hijinks.
43.Weird Science - (7/10) It's pretty dated, but it has a ton of great laughs that stick with you.
14:
44.A History of Violence - (8/10) Don't fuck with Viggo and his slow burning anger.
16:
45.Date Movie - (4/10) A couple of laughs, but most of the jokes are tired and even hot chicks can't save this one.
46.Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi - (8/10) A good finish to a great series, even with ghost Hayden at the end.
47.Jarhead - (8/10) Gyllenhaal gives a great performance and Foxx is likeable as the black Gunnery Sgt. Hartman.
48.Scream - (7/10) Even though this may have started as a parody of slasher flicks, it turned out to be one of the better ones in a decade.
49.Spies Like Us - (7/10) Chase and Akroyd are really on the top of their game here, but a little "more" of Vanessa Angel could have raised the score... along with other things.
18:
50.American Splendor - (7/10) Yes, Giamatti was robbed of an Oscar nom for playing Harvey Pekar.
51.Tommy Boy - (8/10) Farley's best and most memorable, as well as the only time that Spade wasn't totally unwatchable.
52.Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back - (8/10) Probably the best of the Star Wars flicks, and that classic line still gets me.
53.Simply Irresistible - (6/10) A romantic comedy about food, and Gellar actually didn't annoy me so much (like she normally does).
54.Mean Girls - (7/10) A pre-skeleton Lohan does a nice job here and makes us all wonder what might have been if she hadn't become a cracked out ghost of a whore.
25:
55.The Witches of Eastwick - (8/10) Jack is charming, even when he's vomiting cherry pits.
56.The Phantom of the Opera - (7/10) After seeing bits of this, and after seeing it as a whole, I think that Driver and Butler should work more.
57.Tristan and Isolde - (6/10) There seems to be a good movie here, but Franco seemed a little flat and the villian seemed like a cookie-cutter.
58.Munich - (8/10) Spielberg's best in awhile shows why you don't mess with Jews.
26:
59.Something New - (7/10) I enjoyed this look at inter-racial dating and landscaping, but I can't help but think that if the race roles were reversed, this movie would have been slammed for being racist.
60.The Goonies - (8/10) This is Indiana Jones for kids and still worth watching because it's simply entertaining.
***March***
3:
61.Bachelor Party - (7/10) Tom Hanks was once funny, and that "dream chick" still has to be one of the hottest on screen bodies ever.
62.The Departed - (8/10) The best picture of the year was fun, a little shocking, and I actually liked DiCaprio in this.
4:
63.The Prestige - (8/10) This was one of the only times that I agree with the quote on the outside of the DVD. It was magical, and I really did want to see it again immediately when I finished it.
64.The Aristocrats - (6/10) One long joke...that went a little too long, but Bob Saget is a sick fuck.
5:
65.Poseidon - (6/10) Somewhat exciting. The Gene Hackman one was better. Nice on-set effects, but terrible CGI. How did this get an Oscar nom?
7:
66.Caddyshack 2 - (6/10) Keep your eye on the fruit. Keep your eye on the fruit. And of course I'm talking about Chase (or Akroyd) for even taking this role.
67.Batman Begins - (9/10) About as perfect as a comic book film gets, if you ask me. One point deduction for Katie's lazy eye.
10:
68.Nothing But Trouble - (6/10) A (no doubt) drug-enduced comedy version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, with 2 Pac.
69.300 - (9/10) A visual orgasm, and the best choreographed fight scenes...perhaps ever.
11:
70.Fantastic 4 - (7/10) Fun bubble-gum comic action, but Alba really seems miscast again in an otherwise good cast (a la Sin City).
71.Just Friends - (6/10) A likeable romantic comedy with great chemistry from the leads and good comic turns from the Scary Movie girl and the douche from American Pie.
72.Monster-in-Law - (7/10) More entertaining than I thought it would be, and Fonda and Lopez played well off one another, but Ruby stole the show.
73.The Jerk - (7/10) One of Steve Martin's best, but it seems somewhat dulled since I last saw it.
12:
74.Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb - (8/10) Probably much more relevant during the Cold War, but it was still entertaining as hell, and you really have to wonder how ridiculous things might have gotten if Sellers played the Slim Pickens role as well.
75.Ransom - (7/10) Mel Gibson in a competent thriller, and a good Sinise before he was stuck in the machine that is CSI.
13:
76.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 - (5/10) Still fun, but a cheep cash-in on the previous films. And Walker's death may have been the first time I thought to myself while watching a film... "Damn, that looks fake."
77.School Ties - (5/10) Terrible ending to an okay movie. Dean: Thanks for helping us find the cheater, we like having guys like you around our school. Fraser: Fuck off. You're getting me into Notre Dame, bitch." WHAT!?
14:
78.Unleashed (or Danny the Dog) - (7/10) A solid action film and the closest Li's ever gotten to acting.
15:
79.Kicking and Screaming - (4/10) You know Ferrell reached a low when he's being outshined by Mike Ditka.
80.Saving Private Ryan - (9/10) I'm a WWII nut, and the opening sequence to this still gives me shivers. Great camaraderie as well between the squad.
17:
81.Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - (7/10) Overtime, this seems to be emerging as the favorite of the prequels, even among fanboys. Still has the best light saber battle ever.
82.Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith - (7/10) Not a bad ending to the prequels, but this should have been Episode II, and III could be about Vader rounding up the straggling Jedi.
18:
83.Flags of Our Fathers - (8/10) A great war epic that loses it's steam quite a bit at the end, but the earlier parts make up for it.
84.Road to Perdition - (8/10) Solid performances from everyone involved, actors and filmmakers. A great father/son movie.
85.Deep Impact - (8/10) Some parts are cheesy, but this is still one of the best disaster flicks that came out of that plethora of them in the late 90s. I remember the "controversy" over have a black President on film.
86.Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny - (8/10) The most musical fun since The Blues Brothers. I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would, but I thought the ending was a letdown compared to the rest of the film.
19:
87. kiss kiss, bang bang - (9/10) G@y Perry: "Badly. It's an adverb. Who the fuck taught you grammar?" So witty. I love this movie.
20:
88. The Shadow - (7/10) I really enjoyed this. It seems like everyone was hamming it up and having a good time. Maybe Baldwin should have been Jack Ryan a couple more times so he would become a bigger star, because this shows that he can carry a film.
21:
89. Conspiracy Theory - (7/10) A role seemingly made for "Mad Mel." Also probably one of the only times I've seen someone knock a guy out with a gun, and then wisely check to see if he was "really" knocked out, and then hit him again. I liked that.
24:
90. Police Academy 3: Back in Training - (6/10) My friends and I have this running joke when referring to the PA movies that they are all "Part 6," because they start to run together over time.
91. Boogie Nights - (9/10) Probably the best example of how music and costume design can just transport you to the time in which the film takes place.
92. Jerry Maguire - (8/10) Tom Cruise is so likeable here, and this is the only time I've really liked Rene Zellwegger.
93. Die Hard - (10/10) The perfect action film. Part of me hopes that part 4 doesn't taint the greatness of this one.
28:
94. Just Friends - (7/10) I'm moving the score for this up a notch because it's growing on me so much. There's such a great chemistry between the cast and it's just fun to watch them play off each other.
29:
95. Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope - (9/10) Great escapist fun before the robots took over. And of course, I'm talking about Lucas and his writing skills.
30:
96. Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back - (9/10) I love all the early scenes with Yoda so much. How was this puppet so good, and the one for Menace utter crap?
97. JFK - (8/10) Perhaps Costner's best performance and just plain interesting. I don't know if I believe that there was a coup de tat, but I doubt Oswald acted alone.
31:
98. Curse of the Golden Flower - (7/10) Gorgeous production design and some great martial arts, but it's a little dry at times.
99. Clear and Present Danger - (8/10) I think Ford may have been at his best here. This is just a solid film.
100. Batman Begins - (9/10) I still gets goose bumps everytime I see Gordon flip that Joker card over at the end. And Neeson was great. I hope Ras returns.
***April***
1:
101. Defending Your Life - (8/10) Brooks' best film, in my opinion, and I always thought they missed a great comic opportunity with the "Past Lives Pavilion."
102. Just Like Heaven - (7/10) Reese Witherspoon didn't actually annoy the hell out of me. What's going on?
103. Children of Men - (9/10) I loved the way this film was shot, and it was (without question) the most realistic vision of the furture I've seen on film.
7:
104. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - (8/10) Just I love the world that Rowling created, and the films aren't a terrible translation of that.
105. The Boondock Saints - (7/10) There's a lot about this I hate, but damn, I love some of it. Best Line when Rocco comes in all worked up after killing a few guys: Reedus: "You need to settle down Roc." Rocco: "Naw, you need to start fucking getting excited." Gets me every time.
106. Police Academy 6 - (7/10) I think I may have seen this PA movie more than all the others, probably because it was more kid friendly and I could enjoy it at a young age.
9:
107. Constantine - (8/10) Peter Stormare's depiction of Lucifer is my favorite on screen portrayal of the devil. Something about it seems so right. And even though I boo the fact John isn't British, I thought Reeves did a fine job and this is underrated.
10:
108. Batman Begins - (9/10) Liam Neeson was great in this, and his gr@vitas helped lift the film to another level.
14:
109. The Man - (5/10) I like Levy and Sam Jackson, but I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought.
110. Passenger 57 - (8/10) Snipes is great, but I want to know why I never see the bad guy from this anymore. He owned the screen.
15:
111. The Life and Death of Peter Sellers - (7/10) After seeing Dr. Stangelove, this movie seems a lot more relevant.
112. Millions - (8/10) Absolutely charming. This is an amazing family film.
113. United 93 - (9/10) Still haunting, and Greengrass did a wonderful, yet respectful job of portraying the confusion and heroism of 9/11.
16:
114. Memoirs of an Invisible Man - (7/10) I remember thinking at the time that this was supposed to be a straight up comedy because Chase was in it. I hated it, but seeing it again, it's not so bad.
21:
115. The X-Files - (8/10) A competent thriller that's entertaining, even if you're not a fan of the show.
116. Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift - (7/10) Lucas Black just has screen presence. Much better than I expected, and the best of the series.
117. The Last Boyscout - (8/10) Pure action cheese. Probably more one-liners in this film than all other Willis films combined.
118. Eraser - (7/10) Not Arnold's best, but it's always fun to watch him kill people. And those rail guns are the shit.
22:
119. Animated Tales of the World - (6/10) Great for kids. The first part, with the Japanese kids fighting the Tiger was great, but the Caribbean story of building a tower to the moon lessened the overall effect.
28:
120. Bully - (4/10) I pretty much hated everything about this except for the occasional nudity, which also felt out of place most of the time.
29:
121. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - (10/10) Cinematography, score, acting, story, effects. So many nearly perfect things add up to the perfect film, in my opinion.
***May***
5:
122. Airplane II - (6/10) Still funny, but it just rehashes all of the jokes from the first one.
6:
123. Spiderman 3 - (8/10) Tobey Maguire for SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER 2!! Not as bad as everyone on the net is saying. Trust the word of mouth, not the internet on this one.
10:
124. Madagascar - (5/10) The most entertaning that Cedric the Entertainer's ever been. He should have more roles like Maurice.
12:
125. Finding Comedy in the Muslim World - (6/10) You'll probably like this if you're a Brooks fan, but like the character in the film, a lot of this seemed flat.
126. Twister - (8/10) Even though it's cheesy, I lived through a tornado, and they've always fascinated me. This is a fun film.
127. United 93 - (10/10) I orginally had this as a 9/10, but it's so gripping that I feel as if I HAVE to watch it every time it's on TV.
128. Smokin' Aces - (8/10) A fun shoot-em-up action cop/mafia/hitman movie that keeps it's foot on the gas pedal and the funny bone.
129. Dragonslayer - (7/10) For it's time, the effects weren't too bad. Enjoyable as a whole, and some of the dragon shots are still convincing by today's standards.
17:
130. The Fountain - (8/10) Visually amazing. Hugh Jackman should have gotten an Oscar nod for this, I think. He did the best work of his career here.
19:
131. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - (8/10) The chemistry between the two leads makes this worthwhile. And that last shot is awesome.
20:
132. Pan's Labyrinth - (10/10) Amazing amazing film. I didn't realize this was going to be so "adult." I wish there were more films like this one.
133. Yojimbo - (9/10) The Kurasawa classic impressed me just as much as Seven Samurai, and I liked Mifune more in this.
21:
134. V for Vendetta - (8/10) Seems somehow relevant today. Weaving's a great actor, and you can tell from just his vocal performance alone.
23:
135. Mr. and Mrs. Smith - (8/10) Perhaps one of the funnest movies to come out in years. The chemistry is great between Pitt and Jolie (obviously).
24:
136. Shrek the Third - (8/10) Better than the second, not as good as the first, but again, Puss n Boots steals the show (although Gingerbread man had a really good showing as well).
27:
137. Apocalypto - (8/10) I really enjoy Mel's films, and this was WAY more action adventure and less war/drama than I expected.
28:
138. The Naked Gun: 33 1/3 - (5/10) As much as I love this series, by this point, it had lost a lot of steam. However, there are still some good gags.
139. The Break-Up - (6/10) Although it lacked the predictable ending I expected, Vince Vaughn still plays Vince Vaughn. I'm waiting to see if he ever will actually play someone other than himself. And get some sleep, man!
29:
140. Defending Your Life - (8/10) Perhaps Albert Brooks' best work, and Rip Torn (great name) is fun here as well.
141. City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold - (5/10) For every cool point this movie gets because of Jack Palance, Jon Lovitz is there to take it away.
142. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - (8/10) I really like this. Great action, NOT hard to follow, and a competent end to a strong trilogy. I really would have liked to have seen something more with Jones and Calypso, though.
30:
143. Major League 2 - (5/10) Epps for Snipes? Vomits. A buddy of mine said this: "Why not just say that Hayes' face was injured during a stunt on his latest flop of a flim, and that would have made the transition easier. Or have him be his cousin or something." Yeah, I would have preferred that too.
June
1:
144. Letters from Iwo Jima - (8/10) Supposedly the better of Eastwood's two WWII flicks, but I'd say they're about equal. Good to see another side of things for once.
2:
145. John Tucker Must Die - (3/10) Wow. Change the sex of the antagonist, and this might be confused with a shot for shot remake of Mean Girls, with worse acting. And that's saying something.
3:
146. Knocked Up - (8/10) Not as laugh-out-loud funny as "Virgin," but I love how Apatow's character's seem real. Good stuff, and I hope to model my flailing love life after Ben Stone.
4:
147. Serpico - (8/10) A solid performance from Pacino, and a good overall drama. Like all "classics" viewed for the first time, it's hard to be objective.
148. Billy Madison - (8/10) Like all "classics" viewed for the first time, it's hard to be objective. LOL, just kidding. Sandler is an ass, but it's hilarious.
5:
149. Over the Hedge - (7/10) Wow, much better than I expected, and probably Nick Nolte's best work in a long time. The fact that we didn't have to look at him probably aided that.
150. Born in East L.A. - (8/10) In my mind, Cheech's best work. Yeah, I said it.
6:
151. Memphis Belle - (6/10) A decent WWII flick with a bunch of recongnizable people. I've seen better dogfights, but it had enough drama to keep your attention.
9:
152. Shrek - (9/10) The original is still (by far) the best. The banter between Shrek and Donkey doesn't seem the same anymore, and Farquaad is still the best villian of the series.
153. A History of Violence - (8/10) A solid tale about a guy's past coming back to haunt him. I still think that Harris deserved the Oscar nod more than Hurt.
23:
154. The Bourne Identity - (8/10) A great spy thriller. Damon at his very best.
155. The Bourne Supremacy - (7/10) A competent thriller, but not as stellar as the original.
24:
156. The Cowboy Way - (5/10) Being from Texas, I remember this being cool back when I saw it in theatres. Wow, how time changes things.
157. The Green Mile - (8/10) Michael Clark Duncan's best work, by far. Touching, scary, and magical all at once. Not an easy feat.
158. Men in Black II - (4/10) A total cash in crap sequel to the great original. This had potential, but the only bright spot was Rosario Dawson.
159. Not Another Teen Movie - (6/10) The best of the recent trend of bad parodies (not counting the Scary movies) but that's about like saying the best case of herpes or somethnig. Nothing to brag about.
25:
160. Volcano - (7/10) Illogical? Yes. Stupid? Yes. Fun? Yes.
161. Dante's Peak - (8/10) Better than Volcano, but missing Tommy Lee Jones.
162. Serenity - (8/10) Much better than I expected. Now I wish I would have followed Firefly and it wouldn't have gotten cancelled.
26:
163. Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi - (8/10) A satifying ending to a great trilogy, even if it's ALF to have little teddy bears fighting storm stroopers.
164. The Wedding Crashers - (8/10) This has grown on me a bit. You motor-boating son of a bitch!
165. The Ghost and the Darkness - Not bad, but I kept thinking that they should have hired a gruffer actor to play Douglas's role.
166. The Hudsucker Proxy - (8/10) Robbins proves he can be a leading man. I miss him.
167. Robots - (6/10) Nice animation, but this seemed sort of hollow. And once again, Robin Williams gives us a variation on his black preacher.
27:
168. Kill Bill Vol. 1 - (8/10) Bloody awesome, especially the battle with the Crazy 88s.
169. Kill Bill Vol. 2 - (8/10) Not as bloody or actiony, but better overall than Vol. 1, I think.
30:
170. American Me - (7/10) A look at the Mexican Mafia. After working in a prison, this was sort of real to me. Loved the beginning voice over the Universal logo.
July
2:
171. Once Upon a Time in the West - (9/10) Leone's masterpiece? Eh, I liked The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly better. But this is Bronson's best work.
4:
172. Live Free or Die Hard - (8/10) Better than part 2, close to part 3, but no where close to the original.
7:
173. Apocalypto - (8/10) An exciting action film with great costume design and solid acting from an unknown cast. Mel's turning into one of my favorite filmmakers.
174. Alexander: Revisited the Final Cut - (6/10) I'd never seen this in any form, and in the end, I thought it was a little bloated and long-winded. Rosario Dawson has really really great tits, though.
10:
175. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - (8/10) Still as charming and as original as ever. I love the Jim Henson company's suits for the aliens. Sam Rockwell is awesome, but I'm still a little confused how Mos Def got cast as Ford Prefect, but he's growing on me I guess.
176. The Three Amigos - (7/10) Funny, but not the best. "Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas?" Still cracks me up.
13:
177. Thank You for Smoking - (8/10) A great satire, and this makes me want to see The Dark Knight even more, because Ekhart was awesome in this.
14:
178. The Prestige - (10/10) I originally gave this a 9, but I keep finding stuff to love about it each time I see it, that it's now one of my favorite films. Nolan is a genius.
179. V For Vendetta - (8/10) I was suddenly moved more when I saw this today. I think seeing something with an audience makes the emotion shine through more than when you see something alone. Still a solid 8, but this film gets about a 5 probably without Hugo Weaving. Kudos to whoever brought him in after production had started.
180. Stage Beauty - (6/10) Not bad, and Crudup and Daines did well enough with the Shakespearean stuff, but I wish more of the film was like the last 15 minutes. Great ending helped this immensely.
15:
181. Ratatouille - (7/10) Certainly the most beautiful and technically amazing of Pixar's films and a top notch production, but I just didn't connect as much with these characters as in some of their other films.
182. The Changeling - (7/10) George C. Scott was good in this. But a film like this would never play today. It's a scary movie that isn't scary, but it's chilling, if that makes sense. It has a slow build, and I think M. Night's stuff reminds me of this the most.
183. Stranger than Fiction - (6/10) As a former English major, I appreciated a lot of this, especially all the scenes between Hoffman and Ferrell as they're figuring out who his narrator is, but end the end I could have been entertained much more.
17:
184. Back to the Future - (9/10) Ah, I can watch this anytime. It's like a comfortable pillow or something. When George punches Biff, I still get chills.
18:
185. Taxi Driver - (8/10) DeNiro is a crazy fucking vet. I remember when I first realized that Harvey Keitel was the pimp. I don't think this is the best since sliced bread, but it's good.
19:
186. The Chumscrubber - (6/10) An odd fucking movie. At several points, I wanted to slap the fuck out of the actors and scream "Real people don't react to situations this way!" But other parts were oddly amusing. Just strange.
187. Leon: The Professional - (9/10) I still say this is Portman's best work. I hope one day for a Mathilde movie.
20:
188. King Kong - (8/10) Jackson's vision for this was great, and you can see the love, but it's just a little bloated. And I still don't like Black as Denham.
21:
189. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - (7/10) My least favorite Potter book translates into one of my least favorite Potter films. Not surprising.
190. Batman Begins - (10/10) Maybe not perfect, but so many things work for me that I can't give it less than a ten. My favorite comic book film on so many levels.
22:
191. Demolition Man - (8/10) Cool action with a lot of comedy thrown in. Stallone's last good film (other that Rocky Balboa, which I enjoyed).
23:
192. Batman Begins - (10/10) Yes, I just saw this a few days ago, but it's just as awesome as the first time I saw it. God, I love this film.
24:
193. Back to the Future III - (7/10) Still charming and fun, but not quite as cool as the original or part II.
194. Big Momma's House 2 - (4/10) My mom really likes this, but she likes goofy kids movies, and that's what this is.
195. Entrapment - (7/10) One of the first "Y2K" movies I remember. Oddly, Connery and Zeta Jones have a lot of chemistry.
196. You've Got Mail - (7/10) Charming. Meg Ryan's last good film. Possibly. Not quite as charming as Sleepless in Seattle, I think.
27:
197. Cruel Intentions - (6/10) I just love the ending to this movie. It just all sort of comes together. Although, there are a lot of goofy parts.
28:
198. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang - (9/10) Val Kilmer's second best performance, and one of my favorites from Downey. He has great comedic timing.
199. Zodiac - (8/10) A solid crime film that is intriguing. I can certainly see this getting some Oscar buzz come awards season, especially for editing and direction.
August
2:
200. Transformers - (8/10) Michael Bay really knows how to blow shit up with style. I enjoyed the hell out of this.
4:
201. The Whole Ten Yards - (5/10) Not that funny, but something about watching Bruce Willis is always entertaining.
5:
202. Hot Fuzz - (7/10) Enjoyable, but not as good as I expected. The last 15 minutes were great though.
10:
203. Back to the Future Part 3 - (7/10) Not as charming as the other two, but I loved the old west setting and how it played into the BTTF mythology.
12:
204. Monty Python and the Holy Grail - (9/10) A comedy classic. Many of the gags in here are still hilarious today.
18:
205. Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny - (7/10) A fun time with funny music. Jack Black just is so much more enjoyable as "JB" than in a lot other roles he's in.
19:
206. Pulp Fiction - (10/10) I can't really think of anything that I dislike about this film. I love the cinematograpy, acting, directing, but especially the writing.
28:
207. As You Like It - (7/10) How come Branaugh is the only person ever doing Shakespeare? And the Japanese thing was hard to swallow for a while.
208. 300 - (9/10) An action orgasm. Still amazing on DVD, butr not quite the same punch as in theatres.
September
1:
209. My Super Ex-Girlfriend - (6/10) Honestly, I'm just not a big Luke Wilson fan, or an Uma Thurman fan. Even the adorable Anna Farris seemed a little plat in this.
210. Pulp Fiction - (10/10) English, muthafucker, do you speak it?!?! Masterpiece.
3:
211. X-men: The Last Stand - (6/10) The more I see this, the less I like it. Why is Logan crying like a bitch? To me, the only redeeming factor is the last scene with Prof. X, and it happens so far after the credits, it's like an afterthought.
4:
212. Superman Returns - (8/10) The more I see this, the more I like it. It drags in places, but I think Routh nailed it, and liked the "father/son" angle. Perhaps a better actress was needed for Lois, though, but maybe I'm just being picky.
5:
213. The Wedding Crashers - (8/10) Vaughn and Wilson make a pretty good team and McAdams is adorable.
12:
214. Beerfest - (5/10) I'm not a fan of Broken Lizard, really, but this was fun enough. All the German gags made me smile.
19:
215. Black Snake Moan - (8/10) Solid performances from Jackson and Ricci. I hope Jackson gets some award recognition for this. It was so different from what I was expecting.
October
2:
216. Brokeback Mountain - (8/10) Dumbledore cowboy jokes aren't funny anymore, but Anne Hathaway still has great tits.
4:
217. Office Space - (8/10) Just a solid comedy all around. Riiiiiight.
6:
218. 3:10 to Yuma - (8/10) Not the amazing return of the western that I was hoping for (maybe I expected too much), but this is probably my favorite movie of the year so far. I loved Bale in this.
13:
219. The Heartbreak Kid - (8/10) Ben Stiller's best film since "There's Something About Mary." I laughed pretty consistently.
18:
220. Borat - (5/10) Funny at times, but I thought the schtick got old pretty fast. A lot of it felt too staged. Great job by Cohen though.
221. kiss kiss, bang bang - (9/10) I love the chemistry between the three leads and the quirkiness of the script. I wish there were more movies like this.
24:
222. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy - (8/10) Ferrell is ridiculously hilarious in this. Good times. And a strong supporting cast too.
223. The Crucible - (8/10) I love Daniel Day Lewis in this. Part of me hopes that people like John Proctor are in the world today. Oh, and according to Danforth, I weep for corruption.

25:
224. Elf - (7/10) Will Ferrell is awesome, and this is a good family movie. Not his best, but a good time.
November
12:
225. How the Grinch Stole Christmas - (7/10) I still like the animated one better, but Jim Carrey can do some amazingly weird things with his face.
17:
226. Beowulf - (10/10) Holy crap. You must see this on IMAX 3D. That was one of the better movie going experiences I've ever had. A classic tale and a modern classic. Bravo all around.
19:
227. The Marine - (5/10) This was actually better than I expected. Strangely, John Cena was NOT the worst actor in this. Weird.
22:
228. Meet the Parents - (8/10) Ben Stiller probably plays "uncomfortable everyman" better than anyone else.
229. Forrest Gump - (9/10) Hanks did an amazing job in this, and this film never fails to make me feel good.
24:
230. Hudson Hawk - (7/10) I really love the onscreen chemistry between Willis and Aiello. It honestly feels like they've been friends their whole lives. And I love the CIA candybars.
30:
231. The Man - (5/10) Eugene Levy and Sam Jackson. Not the best duo, but some of this is entertaining, but damn, the writing in this is so terrible it's almost hard to watch.
232. The Departed - (8/10)The ending to this film still gets me. Damn that was a shocker. I think Jack hammed it up a bit too much though.
December
1:
233. The Sentinel - (7/10) A competent suspense film. Douglas is entertaining enough, but I just got the feeling to watch 24, because that was better than this.
10:
234. Big Momma's House - (6/10) Not a bad comedy with a surprising number of good actors before they made it "big". Martin Lawrence is not one of those.
11:
235. Little Miss Sunshine - (7/10) A sweet film with some heartfelt performances. Was this really one of the best of last year?
12:
236. Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny - (7/10) Jack Black is funny as hell in this.
15:
237. Almost Famous- (8/10) I really like Led Zeppelin and this reminds me a lot of them. Besides, Jason Lee is always fun.
17:
238. Alvin and the Chipmunks - (5/10) Maybe not "always" fun. This is almost too sweet for my tastes.
26:
239. Live Free or Die Hard - (8/10) No where near the original, but the unrated version of this was heads and tails better than the theatrical release. Give it a look if you haven't.
27:
240. Hellboy - (8/10) Pearlman is great in this, and can emote through make-up better than most actors. Can't wait for the sequel.
