If you could have one actor's/actress' career...

Discuss all the finest actors, living or dead -- their films, their talents, and their weird, drug-related escapades.

Paul Newman.

He's been a superstar. And he's been a highly respected actor. Both at the same time, even. And he's done enormous amounts of charity work. And he's managed to keep together a marriage for a long, long time, unlike many other actors. And he drives very very fast, even in his old age.

wow, yet another amazing topic by Sir Thang . . . great idea, man - though I wanna hear who you would choose!

Personally, I think I would go with Natalie Portman's career to date . . . besides being such a pleasant person, devoid of the hollywood tabloid bull shit that much of the rest of this generation of actors is engulfed by, she was one of the few positive components of the star wars prequels, and is known as such . . . not to mention her vast array of fantastic, diverse choices in films, from Closer and Garden State to V for Vendetta

My other choice would be Audrey Hepburn :-)

I think I'd have to go with Natalie Portman's too. She had such a smooth transition from child to adult star and has been in a lot of good or cool movies the whole time.

I'd say Jason Bateman, he's doing some really fun work as of late. Plus there's Arrested Development and Teen Wolf Too.

Or Claude Rains, he got to be in some of the greats and did some really great work.

I'd have to go with Cate Blanchett. Talk about an impeccable career AND I'd get to be Galadriel!

Failing that--Katherine Hepburn or Madeleine Kahn so I could do a bit of comedy.

Donal Logue

The guy just works and is genuinly happy with his station in life. His spots on Loveline have always been great fun and show how Steve he really is. Hes why Im actually intereted in Ghost Rider.

It would have to be Robert Redford. Apart from the fact he is about 10 times better looking than me, he has had so much success in other areas. He's been in great films but he has also directed and produced great some films as well. And on top of that you have to add setting up the Sundance film institute/festival. Plus he stayed out of the scandal sheets and kept his integrity. Clint Eastwood comes a close second - a better director but Redford edges it for Sundance.

Off the top of my head - Clint Eastwood.

I'd get to be The Man With No Name and Dirty Harry.

I'd get a successful Director's career thrown in for free too!

Clint Howard...

I mean, honestly - you look like an in-bred potato - but you'll always have a job - as long as Ron keeps directing...

If not Clint, then I'd be flip-flopping between Bogey and Bruce Campbell...

Bogey's iconic and got to be in Casablanca...

And Bruce isn't technically a huge "A-List" star...but I think he's done a couple of cool things that some of you may or may not have seen...

Easy....Edward Norton. He just has that personality that fits the characters he plays so well. He's pretty much just a badass. Especially in Fight Club where he was at his most awesome!

I guess no one here would like to be adequite.

Kate Beckinsale. Maybe it's because of all the vamp movies she's made...or a lot of her leading men.

Well said, Minstrel. I'd go with Newman as well. A superb actor who's had some great parts in some fine movies. And he's still going strong at 80 (and looks pretty damn fine as well).
He's also always managed his life and career (as well as his immense fame) with a modesty, humour and dignity few others in his profession have matched. There is no bullshit with Newman: just a great actor and a decent man.

Hmmm, Mickey Rourke has had a pretty crappy personal life. You didn't see him on screen through most of the 90's for a reason. However he must of cleaned things up over the past couple of years, since he's getting work again (and good roles).

Maybe Steve McQueen?

Sans the whole asbestos thing of course.

Somebody better mention Robert DeNiro. I'll mention DeNiro. DeNiro. He is so badass and doesn't need to jump out of a plane to prove it.
