I thought I'd mention that Anchor Bay just re-released the DVD of Rabid Dogs, now under the title Kidnapped.
Anchor Bay also put out a box set of five of Bava's films. Black Sunday, Black Sabbath, The Girl Who Knew Too Much, Knives of the Avenger, Kill...Baby, Kill.
I've never seen Girl Who Knew Too Much, Knives, or Kill, Baby, Kill, so I might pick that up just to check out those films.
Anyway, this new print of Rabid Dogs is pretty good, with a new title sequence. I haven't bothered to check out the other version of this film titled Kidnapped, I understand that Lamberto Bava supervised this new cut with some trimmed scenes, added scenes and new music.
Bava's last three films (Lisa and The Devil, Rabid Dogs, and Shock seemed pretty disurbing, as far as touching on taboo idea's. He certainly seemed to have a very fatalistic point of view towards human nature. Personally, the verdict is out for me which era I liked better of Bava's films, I tend to feel his films from the sixties are better. IMHO.
Rabid Dogs is the kind of film I could see QT making
Anyway, it's a good DVD, check it out. Happy to find Bava is getting more respect now on the DVD market.
