we should start a thread called, "Hollywood has OFFICIALLY run out of ideas" and news like this can go in there.........The fact that they're turning to first person shooters for movie ideas is just sad.

So here it is....bring it on. I suspect with the garbage Hollywood have to offer, AICN members should all reach "AirWolf" status by the end of the year!

Variety reports that the WB network has set up a new division to develop and produce original movies, one of which will be a new televersion of Stephen King's IT. Previously turned into a two-part 1990 movie by ABC and director Tommy Lee Wallace, the novel will be adapted this time by Peter Filardi, who scripted the just-aired SALEM'S LOT two-parter for TNT; this IT will reportedly cram King's massive book into a single two-hour movie. Warner Bros. TV will also produce; no other talent or an airdate have been announced."

So it goes with the whole "Comic Book" adapted movies I guess hey? How many have there been? And we still have all this to look forward to.......Captain America, The Avengers, Nick Fury, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Cloak & Dagger, Dr. Strange, Hawkeye, Power Pack and Shang-Chi. Each film is expected to have a budget of up to $165 million dollars and a rating no more restrictive than PG-13. Although the financing allows for the production of animated films, Marvel currently intends to use the financing to make only live-action films.

Sylvester Stallone will direct and reprise his role as Rocky Balbao in the sixth installment of the boxing franchise, reports Production Weekly.

In the film, lonely and retired boxer Rocky Balboa comes out of retirement, intending to fight a few low-profile local fights just to keep his hand in. But when he's approached to fight a match with reigning heavyweight champ Mason "The Line" Dixon, Rocky's modest little comeback becomes the center of a media firestorm.

Rocky 6 is scheduled to begin filming early December in Los Angeles.

In the Marvel 616 Universe, Brock was an adult. In Ultimate Spider-Man, he's a college kid (a few years older than Peter). It seems like they might be going for an Ultimate-ish thing with it.
I'd really like to see them play up the aspect of, not just "Venom has Spidey's powers, but he's evil," but that Eddie Brock is just like Peter Parker, only without the influence of Uncle Ben and Aunt May, so when he gains "great power" he says "fuck you" to responsibility.

I heard somewhere that the prevailing mood in Hollywood at the moment is that the remake thing has been done to death, so in a couple of years' time, I expect that they won't be commissioning remakes anymore.

This move towards original content MUST be good news for all the budding writers out there. I'd say the next 10 months or so is the right time to plug that super-original but low-budget script you have lying around......

My Movies talked recently about the remake of classic '70s street gang flick "The Warriors".

Walter Hill's 1979 film followed a New York posse who must try and get home to Coney Island alive after being framed from the murder of a gang leader, to be untouchable.

Haha! Very cool. I haven't been back in about 15 years. But my mum goes back every 2 years or so to visit her family....and yes, it's very dry. But the place goes off for such a little island. Did you happen to stop off at the island in the middle of Malta and Gozo called Comino? (Pronounced like Star Wars' 'Kamino') On the way there, is something they call "The Blue Lagoon". I have never seen water that colour before. You stick your hand in the water and it would turn blue!
