Poetry is kind of a hard sell. It's good in that it forces people to read it, but it's also can be SO difficult and unpleasant to discuss.

I'd nominate Robert Graves for consideration. Or, seeing as it's February, we could do some serious love poetry. The Elizabethans (Shakespeare, Donne) or a bodice ripper like Byron. (Who I have a collection of, but still haven't read.)

But otherwise, the only poetry I think we can get a lot of people behind is the stuff of World Literature--Kalevala, Iliad, Beowulf, Russian poets, etc. And I think that would be a lot of fun and certainly doesn't limit our international choices.

I had... and I already read "Stutter Island" which was really quite good, and "A Drink Before the War" (1st in his Kenzie/Genaro series) which also rocked. Currently, I am reading "Darkness, Take my Hand" (2nd in that series), and must say I obviously like his style.

Personally, I think "Stutter Island" is a better choice as it is a stand alone book and Scorcese is making it his next film (can't wait).
