Ugh. I hope he gets crushed in the end in an ironic twist of fate by an even bigger cube-making robot.

"Cars" was rather uninspired but "Ratatouille" was great.

"Wall E" is looking to be one of the best films of the year for my money

That looks excellent, a little busier than I thought it was going to be perhaps but still looks great.

I'm not the biggest fan of CGI Animated films, haven't seen any of the teasers for this film, thought I'd have a look at this one.

WOW, that looks incredible.

I dunno, trailer doesn't tell me much other than he makes cubes out of trash and then hitches a ride on a rocket...

But maybe they're doing that on purpose to pique peoples' interest and see the film.

you didn't watch the new trailer then. plus, the earlier trailers are more about building the character, not giving a story synopsis.

what a Struggling Background Artist.

I'm with the "eagerly anticipating this" crowd...and I'm not even really that much into pixar (or other animated) films. This one feels and looks a little different, though. I think Nord could be right, this could be the E.T. of the next generation.

Sure. does look good.

The Vicar wrote:Why the hate?

Well, I don't hate it. It actually doesn't affect (effect?) me one way or the other. However, the insta-classic status it seems to be getting here confuses me. It doesn't seem very original, or emotional in my book.
And a comparison to E.T. based on this trailer is really stretching it, n'est pa?

I'm closer to sosorry's position than I am to shouting, "halleluia!" but it does look like a very charming film. I hate the title and Wall-E's design. He's far too much a swipe from our friend Flumm. The title had to be cute, I suppose, and it is in keeping with Asimov's rule of robot nicknames.

OLD NEWS

So Eric Tan has done a series of retro-futuristic postcards for Wall-E from Comic Con last year. Some plot hints?

Also there seems to be a website for the corporation who makes Wall-E

One of the comments on that page has already noted what low clearance that vehicle has - it would really struggle on a steep incline or rough terrain. Doesn't seem very practical, but maybe it has some kind of hydraulic suspension system.

It could have hydrolic lifts or something for those road hazards. If R2D2 can stand on his tippy-toes, I'm sure Wall*E can manage something similar. :)

BTW, that real one looked great! I try to avoid Disney if at all possible, but I may have to swindle one of my friends into getting me in for free so I can check that out. :)
