DVD MENUS

My personal fave would be the Wayne's World one, which was set-up to look like a really corny looking Public Broadcast channel. I loved the way they worked in the trailer as well:



You've also gotta love Spinal Tap's DVD Menu, which had Nigel Tufnel & Co. bitching about the tiny Spinal Tap logo.

But you can also go too far, like in the case of one of the Harry Potter DVDs, in which each special feature could only be accessed after playing a bloody awful quiz game.

I like the Muppet Show season sets where some muppets will talk to the viewer, asking why they hadn't made a choice yet. My favorite of those has to be Rizzo and Animal on Season Two.

The old special editions of Alien (where you move around the Nostromo) and Aliens (where the menus are from the POV of a marine entering the LV426 for the first time) are quite atmospheric.

Memento had pretty clever menus, if I remember correctly. It's been a while since I watched it, but I remember putting it in and going, "WTF!? Where's the play button?"

I don't like overley complicated menus and I really hate ones that show you little summaries of the movie you're about to watch.

I prefer just the movie poster and simple large text giving you your options.

The Wayne's World menus are excellent, and it was good that they used them again for the sequel disc.

The best DVD menus I've seen are those The Adam & Joe Show DVD which had all sorts of easter eggs, and even commentaries for the menus, while keeping everything easy to navigate.

Over the Hedge has a cool menu.

They have a snack vending machine. Each snack selection is a different menu option. It's kinda clever, as the opening to the movie is the raccoon trying to get a bag of chips that gets jammed between the glass.

The German movie "Neues vom Wixxer" is "hosted" by the characters of the movie. To be specific: There are 172 different scenes, with 28 actors in 30 different roles, that were filmed just for the DVD menu.
They even won an award for this.

The Zoolander DVD menu cracks me up just for the dancing Will Ferrell in the corner of each menu.

All I can say is that vending machines suck most of the time. The snacks are overpriced and get stuck in the machine 80% of the time.

one of my pet peeves are dvd menus that show scenes from the movie or otherwise somehow give away plot points and potential spoilers. if i haven't seen the movie yet, i don't want it spoiled by a stupid dvd menu.

I currently use micro DVD to playback my Divx rips as it is the best all round player I have found. I have recently started to make Divx with AC3 sound. Is it possible for me to get Micro DVD to output the sound to an external DVD decoder, or do I have to use another player...

I have Power DVD 4.0... It plays Dvix with AC3 sound just fine.... Is there a way to make micro DVD like menus for power dvd?

I saw that micro dvd 1.3 is now comercial. Where can I go to buy it?
