The Tarantino Effect

Discuss all the finest actors, living or dead -- their films, their talents, and their weird, drug-related escapades.

The Tarantino Effect

Postby Seppuku on Sun Jun 22, 2008 2:45 am

New 10-part doc (each part being about 3 and a half hours long) featuring nothing but Tarantino talking direct to camera about himself and his career!!!

 (Why is it that the lobotomized emoticon is the only one that looks right?)

Just shitting ya. If you had to pull a Lazarus on one actor's ailing career, who'd it be and what would you cast them in?

Can we really bring em back from the dead? Cause that would be cool. If so, Lee Marvin would kick ass in a Tarantino flick.

Living, I'd say Mickey Rourke and Kurt Russel, but they've both sort of had little comebacks of their own recently.

1. Emilio Estevez - WERE ARE YOU!?!?!?
2. Charlie Sheen - He's doing really well on TV now, but I'd love to see him score another hit on the big screen.
3. Christopher Knight (Peter Brady) - the guy has aged well.
4. Michael Keaton - I know, he was in Jackie Brown already
5. Steve Guttenberg

4 years ago I would have put Jackie Earl Haley on my list.

Peter Weller.
Arliss Howard.
Kevin Spacey, who, far as I can tell, has been in maybe one good movie in the last 10 years.
Nick Nolte...though, to be fair, Nick just exists in his own environment, probably only taking projects that interest him; and if "King Shot" ever happens, he won't need QT to up his cool factor.
Lance Henriksen.
Alex Rocco.
Jim Brown, Jim Kelly, Fred Williamson - "Three the Hard Way" revival!

harder to come up with actresses...

Dennis Hopper could use a good redefining role at this point in time.
...or at least just a good one.

It seems to me that he and Tarantino should have worked together a long time ago.

I would like to add The Coreys to this.
Corey Feldman, who still looks like he's in his 20's.
And Corey Haim, who now looks like Mickey Rourke's kid brother.

Would they be any good? Probably not, but I'd love to see them in a quality film.

If we can bring 'em back from the dead, then the only person that would need to be mentioned is a muthafuckin Charlie Bronson...

And everybody's mentioning dudes otherwise...

I'll nominate Linnea Quigley and Mathilda May for a little bit of career rejuvenation...

Linda Hamilton
Jennifer Grey
Ally Sheedy
Molly Motherfucking Ringwald

Edit: I'd like to add Kristy McNichol.

Quentin could write her character as an homage to Nicholson Chinatown...

Like Darryl Hannah with the patch in Kill Bill, Jennifer Grey could walk around with her nose all bandaged up...

Mel Gibson is still my top choice for a QT movie. He was awesome in Payback and could rock out another iconic performance in a Quinty movie.

Runners-up: Nicholas Cage, Lawrence Fishburne, and Rachel Weisz.

For the chicks, I nominate Geena Davis, who's badassery is very undervalued. Tarantino could really make her shine!

For the men, Dougray Scott, who never did catch a break. He should get to play a Scottish thug again before he retires and is remembered for nothing more than that appalling Ten Commandments.
