Walt is becoming a bit of an asshole, to his wife and to Jesse. I know it's increasing desperation to stick to his plan and make the money he needs to, but he's getting pretty dark...

Also - how funny were the scenes and montage featuring Jesse's new crew of dealers? I want more of that stuff. I think Jesse is going to make a play for his new landlord/neighbour... and I'm hoping it works - maybe she's a weekend crackhead?

Hank is on the edge, I think he's gonna crack, which will give the Heisenberg team a chance to really make some bank.

Brilliant episode - dropping some serious bombs... Yo!

The song at the start was genius, the imagery in this show is amazingly off the wall sometimes.

Loved Walt meeting with the three princes - they should get a spin-off show all for themselves... like Torchwood only good.

I wasn't sure where the whole 'Hank as the new unpopular kid at school' thing was going... but the pay-off was as funny as it was shocking.

It keeps getting better, although the episodes that focus on Walt and Skylers relationship can get a little tedious... less family life... more dealing and graphic violence please!

My god, Saul is fantastic. He's disgusting, I love it.

This weeks ep was a classic, I love the little goofing about, it's the perfect antithesis to all the dimal things happening around Walt and Jesse. It's also nice ot see them sort of get along.

That whole scene with the DEA and Walt and the Hisenberg folly was almost Silent movie-esque.

Loving it.

Also, Jesse's new squeeze. Is she going to turn out to be another Lyra (Dexter)?

This weeks episode was action packed.

Councillor Slimey/Lawyer set them up and again, the two stooges foul it up. Amazing and briliant. I'm so looking forward to seeing how the dynamics change now that Jesse is a hardcore druggie, having turned his girlfriend to recidivism.

OMG! Explosive.

I agree Maui. Terrible moment. The other bad one was the H float. With a show so grounded in reality it just felt off.

Walt is heading to a dark dark place and Im loving every minute of it.

He is no longer in it to provide for his family he is now in it for his own power.

I think that's why he grabbed at the chance for the operation, as an excuse to carry on.
I thought Jesse's float was ok, more of a nod to Trainspotting. It was a little out of place but the time it took felts quite trippy itself.

As actors, they are both providing fantastic performances.

Yeah, the float didn't work at all. It reminded me a little bit of the V highs that Jason and his girlfriend experience on True Blood, only less dreamlike. It works on True blood (for obvious reasons) NOT on BB.

I loved the bit at the beginning with the kid on the bike, I was so sure they were setting it up for him to catch a stray bullet, really shocked to see him holding the gun.

I thought it was really darkly funny how Walt's wife didn't seem to want him to have the operation, in her mind he's already as good as dead I think.

There were a few contrived moments in this episode though, like the floating after the H+Meth injection (whats that called anyways? Is that a speedball?) and the fact that the baby started to come just as Walt had an hour to deliver the goods. Not really a contrivance but I knew the Fast Food joint owner was the guy as soon as I saw him, thats the problem when you cast a recognisable face and expect them to just blend in for a surprise reveal, it's like how you can always tell who the murderer is going to be in shows like The Mentalist, CSI etc.

Walt's wife doing the Monroe Birthday bit was shockingly bad.

Walt smashing the door in was hella funny.

Just two more episodes this season :P

Poor man's speedball. I think Jane revisiting drugs will ultimately be her demise. I have a feeling she won't be around for season 3.

If there is going to be any sort of redemption for Walt you'd think it would be through Jessie, hopefully he'll get him to clean up his act.

No Flash Forward in the opening of this episode, do you guys think we'll even get to see what goes down at Walt's house and who's in those body bags this season?

I think the body bags is going to be Jessie and his gal pal. They were originally going to kill Jessie off in the first season but didnt due to Aarons performance as Jessie.

I think the tankless water heater that Walt installed will be the cause of the explosion.

It could very well be Jessie and his girlfriend in the Breaking Bad Body Bags. They don't get the money from Walt. They go to the house to steal it....BOOM!

[Bites nails]

I really like that idea and at the same time, I don't want it to be.

Killing Jesse and Ms would be a bad move, you're left with Walt doing what he wants, and Walt, Jesse and the 'Lawyer, lawyer, pants on fire' is a perfect combinations; Harry, Curly and Moe.

I love this series, and at the pace it changes, it could do well wallowing in itself for a bit.

Drugs are bad... m'kay?

Jesse got Jane onto drugs again, Jane got Jessie onto heroin, Jessie got Jane into trouble with Q... and Walters home life sub plot is still the worst part of the show.

And didn't Junkie Jane turn into a really nasty psycho bitch from hell?!?

The ending of this episode was quite disturbing, one sometimes forgets that Walt can be a titanic bastard when he really sets his mind to it - reminds me of a chemistry teacher I had long ago.

I love last night's episode. You can't really blame Walter for his hesitation, but boy was that moment interesting. It's a testament to the show's writing and Cranton's performance to have a Deus Ex Machina device be so loaded like that. What a show.

Why does that happen in so many of these shows? The girlfriend who seems too good to be true, usually is - we've had it happen to Dexter, True Blood fell foul and poor Jesse now.

I'd really love for someone once to cut him a break, but then what would the show be without its inner angst?

I wonder if Q is going to go on a hunt for Jesse now and considering he is Walt's Jekyll, I would like to see a struggle between him and Walt. Q's determination after being blinded by the death of his daughter to find Jesse, and Walt's realisation that he was the father he met in the bar and they still confide in each other.

Maui wrote:What are the chances that Walt and Jane's Dad end up in the same bar and start talking about kids? Hmmmm?

I didn't think that was too far fetched considering Walt was in the same area and Jesse and his daughter. But then again, the SAME bar. I'll believe fate had a hand to play.

As soon as I noticed Q was working as an air traffic controller it became blindingly obvious to me what was going to happen, well I still didn't know who was going to be in the body bags but I knew a plane crash was going to be the reason they were there.

Anyone notice the red herring on Jane's mural? There was a pink teddy bear in the top right of the painting, I though Q was going to somehow link Jesse to Walt and seek revenge with his daughters bear in tow.

Next season can't come soon enough, Hopefully Walt's bitch of a wife won't be present much, she might be morally right but the way she goes about it all is just nasty, the truth is she's looking for any reason to leave Walt so she can shack up with her boss (who also tried lying to her about the accounts, so she's got double standards too).

So glad Jesse lives on, if he was gone I doubt there would be anything interesting left in the show, the Father/Son relationship between him & Walt is crucial and has really stepped up these last two episodes (Walt even called him "son" when he saved him from the drug den).

I was thinking the same thing.

Walt has killed three himself, one in the trailer in the first episode, one in Jesse's basement and Jane.

Indirectly I think you can blame another two, Tuco & Jesse's dealer friend. Plus all the meth babies, addicts and all the people on the two planes.

Walt is going to burn in hell

She's not a bitch, she's calling him out because he has lied to her REPEATEDLY. I actually thought her approach was perfect and definitely how one would react to such deceit. She made him sweat and backed him into a corner with her findings.

They've both lied but the magnitude of Walt's lies, well, just no contest. Regardless of the flirtation with the boss, Walt fully deserved the smackdown from Skyler.

Hmmmm... She's pretty passive aggressive, but they're both deceiving each other, and I do get the feeling that She's using Walt's lies to justify her own, whereas Walt started off trying to provide for his family in the event of his (impending death) but now that he's had a reprieve, he has a taste for the wealth and moreso the power that the drug empire brings, and he just doesn't want anyone to know where the money is coming from... or be confronted by what he is indirectly responsible for.

I thought this last episode was a bit weak. After so many beginning-of-ep 'flash forwards' to the pool scene, what eventually went down was a bit anti-climactic, and, as others have mentioned, slightly predictable. I wanted to see a bit of Odenkirk in this ep, and hope he returns soon. I'm guessing Jessie will clean up at the Health Spa Walt put him in, and the duo will be back in business in a larger scale next season. Can't blame Emily Strange for kicking the bucket too much; having Q for an old man would probably fuck most people up a bit.

Interesting read especially with all the talk of religious undertones which made me remember a scene in season 1 where Walt is seen in his heyday breaking down the chemical composition of the human body, at the time I thought this was merely about the body Walt & Jesse were dissolving in a tub of acid but now in hindsight with all this religious stuff I'm left pondering the end of the scene where Walt is perplexed by the fact that even after you add all the elements and trace elements that form the human body together they still don't quite add up to 100%, some subtle hint about the presence of a soul perhaps?

She's not a bitch, she's calling him out because he has lied to her REPEATEDLY. I actually thought her approach was perfect and definitely how one would react to such deceit. She made him sweat and backed him into a corner with her findings.

They've both lied but the magnitude of Walt's lies, well, just no contest. Regardless of the flirtation with the boss, Walt fully deserved the smackdown from Skyler.

She was waiting for everything to finish before she could leave, and next series she'll shack up with her conniving boss and become embroiled in the deceit where Walt will save her by getting Saul to hire a hitman.

Who knows? I've given up predicting this program, I'm just really enjoying the ride.Jesse may even not recover and kill himself for which Walt will blame himself?

And let's not forget about the Mexican Cartels to whom, us viewers had a whole song dedicated.

As for the ending...Fuck.....me!!!! That's all I'll say.

Thanks Maui for recommending it to me, it's awesome.

Great article SFG! I also found the Jane/ baby Holly stuff a little too obvious. Show Jane, quick show baby Holly.

You've all made really good points here. It's funny when I read various other reviews, episode recaps - there are really two camps when it comes to Skyler: LIKE or DISLIKE. I'm on the fence with this one. I do see her passive aggressive nature and controlling ways but I also see a very unhappy woman that's been continually lied to that is looking for a way out. Yeah, all this new found information was definitely her ticket away from Walt and the 2nd cell phone oopsie was definitely the ammo she needed.

Walt, the antihero, that we sympathize with. ;)

I think my problem with her is that her character is very realistic in many ways, she gives the silent treatment, is very controlling and won't be lied to easily. Just like most women I know.

Right now I'm in the middle of Season 2 and while the last three or so episodes became a little bit tiring (but still gripping) with its "everybody is yelling at each other for having secrets"-schtick, "Peekaboo" was once again a real kick in the nuts (in a good way).

Saw the Season 2 finale yesterday. Next month I will buy the DVD boxes and borrow them to all of my friends and family, since it's pretty unclear when and if the show will ever air outside of an obscure Pay TV channel over here.
