from before a lot of you were born, there was this movie in B&W. Some scientist discovers a new planet, so he, a boy and his dog, take off for the planet.

They find that the people living there are enslaved/captured by some robots, and go into hiding. Eventually, they discover that the robots can be destroyed by water. I remember the professor and the boy shooting them with water pistols. There was a princess involved, and they had to rescue her.

Any ideas? It was definitely Japanese, and had that style.

And whoa, Miyazaki is listed as an animator for it. It's a.k.a. Gulliver's Space Travels, directed by Yoshio Kuroda.

(I saw an anime as a child I didn't know the name of but eventually found it was "Jack and the Witch.")

Thanks rserocki, I didn't think it'd be that easy to find on google, so I didn't try.
