All the dirt. All the top secret stuff. Anything that has to do with the process of getting us to sit and watch something projected on the big screen.

Rodriguez's THE JETSONS!

Postby bastard_robo on Tue May 08, 2007 6:06 am

WTF? This came out of left field

Latino Review reports that Robert Rodriguez ("Sin City," "Spy Kids") is tipped to be handling Warner Bros. live-action feature "The Jetsons."

The storyline will be based on the popular animated Hanna-Barbera TV show, which revolved around the travails of a family in the distant future.

Just let the Jetsons be... it was good but really doesn't need a feature again.

There are a billion great cartoons in the world that could have been done a major service by this man:

Thundar the Barbarian
The Littles
Pole Position
MASK

He chose the fucking JETSONS.

It's more than likely roughly related to the same possible reason Quentin's doing a remake of a film next (apparentely) as opposed to his big war epic.

Grindhouse (love it, or hate, or winslow all the way home about it) was a huge and utter flop...so far...it will more than likely do alot better on DVD...

But still - for the most part - these 2 guys have had a subtle midas touch...

Pretty much everything they do at least makes some money...

So they need something fairly safe and slightly recognizable (even though Quentin's remake is still of a fairly obscure film - it's just his way - but he's still doing a remake nonetheless).
They have to do something for a studio - and hopefully have success with it - before they'll be given a blank check to do whatever they want again...

Wow, this is pretty much the epitome of pointless, especially since Harvey Birdman got there first.

What do you guys think, Rose McGowan as Jane?

Shit, why wait for a Jetsons movie? I notice it's the Mexicans picking the fruit and the white guys buying the recliners.

Is there some web site somewhere where we can register Formal Complaints about this project? 'Cause I'd rather see Shark Boy and Lava Girl II.

I'd rather see Rosie O'Donnel naked.

Seriously, if I have a choice between a live-action "Jetsons", a sequel to "Shark Boy and Lava Girl", or Rosie O'Donnell naked, I'll take the last option.

Shit, I'd sit through "Catwoman" again, for that matter.

From AICN: Robert Rodriguez set to make NERVERACKERS at long last!
Harry wrote:Then, it looks like he'll make his JETSONS movie, which will most likely be the exact opposite of what he's doing with NERVERACKERS.
Robert was shooting some tests for this film recently and was quite giddy about how it was coming together... last time we spoke.

So, Kanye West Might Be The "Creative Director" Of 'The Jetsons' Movie
Kevin Jagernauth wrote: Update: MTV caught up with producer Denise Di Novi who confirmed that yes, Yeezy is considering the project. "Kanye's always been a Jetsons fan, I think because he's so into design and he loves the design aspects," she said. "So we had a fun brainstorming conversation."

"We heard that he knew we were working on the Jetsons," Di Novi also said, stressing that talks were early. "He reached out and said he's a huge Jetsons fan. There are a lot of Jetsons fanatics out there, especially people that are into either futuristic science or design. He was interested in creatively brainstorming what we were doing with the movie and what ideas he might have. It was a really friendly, preliminary conversation."

WB sets rewrite of 'Jetsons' script - Scribes Robichaux, Susser to rework live-action feature
Rachel Abrams & Dave McNary wrote:Warner Bros. has tapped "Chewie" scribes Van Robichaux and Evan Susser to rewrite its bigscreen version of TV toon "The Jetsons."

Donald De Line and Denise Di Novi are producing the live-action feature, which the latter has been developing for more than a decade with a number of different writers. Most recently, Adam F. Goldberg had been penning the screenplay.

Storyline will center around the Hanna-Barbera show, which revolved around the life and times of George, Jane, Judy and Elroy Jetson. The TV series first aired in primetime in 1962 as Hanna-Barbera's Space Age counterpart to "The Flintstones."

This isn't the first time a studio has brought the popular TV skein to the big screen. Universal released a "Jetsons" pic in 1990, directed by Joseph Barbera, co-founder of the Hanna-Barbera company and one of the creators of the original series from 1962.

WME and Untitled Entertainment rep both scribes.
