It will probably a very good movie, because Sorkin can make great scripts out of boring topics (and I heard from many people that the script is fucking brillant!), but it will also be the biggest Box Office bomb of the year, because in the end it's just a film about Facebook and I don't know anybody who cares about this topic enough to watch a movie about it.
You dont know anybody who cares about this topic enough to watch a movie about it?!?!
what about the 400 million plus facebook users? thats a pretty good audience dont you think?
This isn't a movie about the facebook website. 400 million users (let be honest, how many of those 400 million are active users anyway?) aren't going to tune in to a movie just because they subscribe to the website. This is intended to be a drama about the man/boy who created this phenomenon. Its not going to be hours of him typing LOL status updates on his FB page. That's my take on it at least.
I dont know what movie your thinking of but this is a movie about the facebook website and the founders who created it. and I will be honest, there are at least 400 million active users on facebook and at least 200 million log on in any given day! Im not saying that all the people on facebook are going to see the social network, but I am saying that facebook is probably one of the social network's biggest target audience and if just a fraction of the users on facebook see the social network than it will be a financially successful film.
Are you saying that facebook users dont like dramas? are you saying that facebook users only want to see a movie about a guy typing status updates? because thats just dumb. I am a user on facebook and I really want to see this film and im willing to bet there's a couple million more just like me, no?
my post was a response to someone who said, "I don't know anybody who cares about this topic enough to watch a movie about it", which I believe is completely insane. Why would a studio greenlight this if they didnt think it would make any money? not to say that it cant bomb. Im just making the point that to think no one wants to see this is wrong. I think if anyone is interested in seeing this film, it would be the people who actually use facebook, and not because they want to see someone typing status updates.
