If you want this to be a *serious* topic, you may want to take Kong out of the poll. Because logically Superman and Batman wouldn't stand a chance against a 25 five foot tall gorilla.

Err, Kong is in for tradition!

Superman would end Kong's life rather quickly.

Come to think of it so would Batman.

Bats has kryptonite. Unless Supes is very, very clever (not known for that these past couple of decades), Bruce takes it with a TKO.

Kong still rules.

Didn't Superman build rayguns to fight martian teddy bears in the old days? What ever happened to campy Supes?

A 70-year-old Batman beat the crap out of Superman. Twice.

Superman KNOWS Batman is the only one who can take him down, which is why he gave him the Kryptonite ring.

Batman wins.

They actually have that exact conversation in the "Hush" stoyline, when Poison Ivy infects Superman and sics him on Batman. Batman has the ring and uses it to take Superman down.

Supes gave it to him for just such an occasion. If he ever lost control or was being manipulated, he knew only Batman would do what needed to be done.

Well, it depends upon whose book the fight happens in, wot?

Bats didn't put up much fight against a mind-controlled Supes in the recent "Crisis" storyline, did he? No. He got his shit knocked crooked.

But since I like Batman better, I voted for him.

I think the Batsuit from Dark Knight is kind of dumb. I love the moment, but come on... Batman builds a robot suit to fight Superman? WTF. Why not just build the robot suit to fight crime? Seems like he could have one his war a lot sooner had he just been Iron Man instead.

And if Kryptonite isn't involved, then Superman would blister that punk's ass. Don't even go on and on about how clever Batman is and he would find a way. Superman could fly up into the stratosphere and set Batman aflame in like .2 seconds.

More or less as seen in The Authority and The Ultimates. If you gave Millar Kong, he'd do it there, too.

(I really do like Millar.)

Actually, he's 50. Gordon is 70 in Dark Knight.

Okay, but he's 70-ish in Strikes Again, correct? And he kicks the snot out of Supers in issue #1.

Secondly, that would be rather fitting.

Batman. Bats is willing to do whatever it takes to beat Supes, even if he has to kill him. Superman doesn't have that mentality. If he did, Batman would be nothing but a smear on the pavement. But Supes is still the big boy scout. In the end, it's simple: Superman fights fair, Batman doesn't. That's why he wins.

Strikes Again is three years later -- note that Carrie, who was 13 in the first book, is still an adolescent. (This makes the last page of the story rather creepy.)

Batman is cooler, but damn are his stories all the same.

He's dark, he's brooding.... etc etc

Superman has always had little in ways of an identity other than his facade.

Though i'll tell you, All Star Superman is far better than All Star Batman & Robin.

All Star Superman is amazing, i've read it like 9 times. It's what comic books used to be like: fun.

the jedi would kick both their asses. Unless Phoenix eats a sun.

Ok, seriously, I gotta go with Supes if we are talking Batman minus kryptonite. With kryptonite, I could kill Supes if I got a little lucky, so I think we need to excise kryptonite from the argument.

Without Kryptonite Superman wins the fight.

Okay, even if you disregard the history between the two characters . . . Batman villains even kick superman villains' asses any day of the week . . . psychologically, all of Superman's foes would have their fingers in their asses at the site of scarecrow or twoface, or especially joker at the height of their games.

I love Batman (ALOT) but Superman has superhuman abilities.. So disregarding their history, unless Batman has kryptonite I'm afraid Superman would kick the shit out of Batman. Batman has lots of cool toys but he is human.....

Carrie saves Brice from an otherwise sure death in a volcano. As they fly off, Carrie remarks that the destruction of the cave means all the souveniers and memories are lost.l Bruce replies that they were nothing but memories and calls Carrie darling. It seems very romantic and it's creepy.

I liked it. It was more about letting go. The last lines by Bruce were "I used to be sentimental, back when I was old." He feels revitalized. Just because he called Carrie 'Darling' doesn't mean anything more than a term of affection. He's her father figure, after all.

I think the better matchup would be Batman and Spiderman. Spidey has superhuman strength like Superman but not equal to him. The kicker is that he is also vunerable to blows (if you can land them) like Batman. So it seems to be more of a fair fight.

To recap:

Batman beats Superman (because of Fanboy History)

Superman destroys Goku (thanks to the Spanish kid's comic)

and lastly, the Jedi destroy the X-Men because Phoenix is to busy dry-humping a sun.

Clear?

I dearly hope so, Colin, but so much of that book was twisted that it seemed very odd. Superman and daughter decide to take over the world, for heaven's sake.

I like Batman as much as the next guy, he's like, my second favourite superhero of all time. My first? Well Superman of course. And if anyone seriously thinks the Bat would win in a fight, a proper fight I mean, with neither one pulling any punches, Batman would be nothing but a bunch of disassociated molecules floating around in the ether, and anyone who thinks different is a muppet.
