Heres a gallery of some shots sneaked from the trailer/preview footage.

I really like what I see, and I think the poor quality gives them a cool grimy feel.

Heres one of them:

Poor pic quality or not these snaps have me extremely excited for the movie, loving the similarity of design to the original film.

Ridley Scott, director of Alien and Blade Runner, returns to the genre he helped define. With Prometheus, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Those costume look a bit STAR TREKish, not that that's such a bad thing.

My Swedish girlfriend looks nice and feminine with that red-brown hair.

At first glance, Fassbender looked like Ewan MacGregor to me; I was all like, is he in this movie too?

I can't make out a damn thing.

It's worse than the Blair Witch project.

Until a new copy arises which is of good quality, I reserve my judgement as the sound and vision are just dire.

The one that was on the mothersite this morning was alot better (and longer) than that one linked above. Looked grainy and nasty, but I think it got the point across, that my eyeballs will be raped when this bitch comes out. My only complaint with the trailer was the overused Inception-like music.

I noticed that too. You almost expect it now in every trailer.

Just like the soundtrack that The Two Towers used in its trailer. In the mid 2000s, you knew EVERY trailer was going to ape that. Seems the same with the Inception cue now.

And I hope these poster confirms that they are sticking with the title and not changing to RISE OF THE ALIEN 3D: ARMAGEDDON REQUIEM or something. I like PROMETHEUS as a title.

For those who can't wait to see the first trailer for Ridley Scott's upcoming space epic to be released online this Thursday, it'll be attached to US screenings of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo which hits theaters beginning tonight

Yesterday, it was revealed that the debut trailer for Ridley Scott's upcoming sci-fi epic, Prometheus, will be released online this coming Thursday. Now, those in the US will get to watch the trailer early with screenings of David Fincher's Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which will hit theaters beginning tonight at 7 PM. Below is Coming Soon's report on the matter...

20th Century Fox is currently counting down the Thursday online launch of the trailer for Ridley Scott's Prometheus at iTunes Movie Trailers with daily teaser clips, but we've received word that you can actually see the trailer in theaters starting Tuesday night at 7 p.m. nationwide with David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo!

Also, someone who was attending an early screening of the film last night also saw the trailer, and posted it on their Twitter profile, confirming the above report and revealing the exact time length of the trailer.

The HD version is on apple trailers, and it is even fucking cooler. You can frame-by-frame it if you're into that kinda shit, and there are definetly some juicy shit to be seen. For example, the quick cut scene where they look like they are examining something, its THE HEAD OF A FUCKING SPACE JOCKEY!!!!!

I waited for the QT version specifically so I could give it the frame-by-frame treatment. Very interesting stuff. As others have pointed out, there's a Space Jockey possibly shown when the Jockey's chair rises out of the floor. I'm also of the opinion that the opening audio log is probably the beacon/warning that Ripley was decoding/translating in Alien. It's all done in past-tense and it certainly sounds like someone warning others off from the place. The mind boggles at the possibilities this film has going for it, and I'm totally on board for whatever story they have to tell.

This is my fave trailer of the Big 3. By far maybe. Look at all that detail and stunning visuals. Ridley Scott is directing the shit out of this. Love how it's doing our heads in making us wonder what the heck is going on in this film. Hope it lives up to or surpasses expectations.

So to play Peven's Advocate* here...

Dan O'Bannon was a singular voice when it came to scripts, Damon Lindelof wrote Lost a show in which the mythology (surely an integral part of Prometheus' appeal) basically sucked when it amounted to nothing. The film is also looking to be an "origin story" - a really very overwroked narrative type at the moment.

Peven, dude know you're not actually criticising Prometheus just making a little contrary joke

Ha! I knew as soon as I saw your name that this was going to be a comment about how much Lost sucked. Well it does seem to be a beginning of sorts, but tell us what you thought of the TRAILER. And "Across the Sea" ruled, so suck it!

Anyway, here are Damon Lindelof's thoughts on overworked origin stories:

Damon Lindelof wrote:I’ve always felt that really good prequels should be original movies. And the sequels to those prequels should not be the movie which already exists because, with all due respect to anyone who makes a prequel, but why would you ruin the greatest twist in the history of cinema -- "Luke, I am your father" -- by showing me three movies which basically spoil that surprise? You can do movies which take place before Star Wars but I don't need to see the story of the Skywalker clan. Show me something else which I can’t guess the possible outcome of. There is no suspense in inevitability. So a true prequel should essentially precede the events of the original film, but be about something entirely different, feature different characters, have an entirely different theme, although it takes place in that same world. That was my fundamental feeling about what this movie wanted to be.

As a fanboy, I would want to see a movie take place in that Alien universe, which precedes the events of the original Alien, but is not necessarily burdened by all the tropes of that franchise with Facehuggers and Chestbursters.

That's interesting as I was ready to post on this very thread to the contrary to what people were feeling. With all the visual clues to this films history and the fact that the original director of Aliens was on board it felt a little too much like a geekgasm, but a quote like that gives me faith. Of course, it could be a load of old guff in the vein hope to boost sales tickets but I do have faith.

I'm not going to post how awesome the trailer was, it certainly grabbed my interest but again, so did Event Horizon but that turned out to be a pile of pants.

With the trend of the 00's to be all about the remakes and the prequels, and all being poor, I hope there is a diamond in the rough. I really do.

The TRAILER is fantastic work. Best of the big 3 recently out by a country mile. I wanna see the film so bad.
It's just I'm tempering excpectation for myself so thought I'd share :D
There's already a quasi mystical vibe to the Chariots of The Gods idea so you add Lindelof to that, and well anyone who just about died of embarassment, anger and boredom at a Cave With Light has got tbe slightly aware of how this could cripple the film.
That quote is good and does go someway to alleviating my fears but (and this'll be the last Lost dig, I promise) it's not like Lindelof and Cuse didn't have a habit of talking total bullshit at time.

On a different note - I rewatched Alien and Aliens yesterday and Cameron's sequel does kinda ruin the character of Ripley a little bit. In the first film she's just all business and Gets Shit Done (cf. she's gonna keep Dallas et al quarantined outside the ship until Ash just lets them in anyway and she's comepletely in the right about him and everything else). Her gender isn't an issue at all due to Bannon's script and Scott's casting decision. Contrast that with Aliens where Ripley gets turned into a greving mother within 5 minutes and spends the rest of the film babysitting! Sure she's still badass but her femaleness is way more explicitly dealt with, in my opinion it's a bit of a step backward.
Elitism is positing that your taste is equivalent to quality, you hate "Hamlet" does it make it "bad"? If you think so, you're one elite motherfucker.

I have no idea what you're going on about in your first paragraph, and your 2nd I totally disagree with.

As for Papa's post. It was so intelligent that I don't think it was written by him. I honestly don't.
