I just don't get the Thrawn obsession with some.
I read the Thrawn series probably in 2001, between Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. I found it mildly entertaining but incredibly hokey - even in Star Wars terms. What, with Jedi clones and the like. I totally understand that in the eighties and early nineties there was a void of anything new in the Star Wars world. That doesn't mean that everything that was produced was golden. I guess that mentality is a huge reason I was happy that Disney did away with the EU. Now every story and everything within that story has to pass through their Story Team to make sure it all fits..... and for lack of better wording, isn't fucking stupid.
All that being said, I'm more than happy with future Star Wars properties dipping into the EU well for characters/stories/etc. as it will now become part of the cohesive story that is Star Wars.
