You're talking about THE most PLAUSIBLE depiction of speed + distance + human predictability calculation in tv EVAH!!!!

As for the rest of your comments - you have no Love in you. No soul. Probably angrily charged at the tv like my mad white dog used to do whenever he saw a black dog when you saw friendly Negan pop up at the end of that episode. Unlike me who just had a mental breakdown being unable to compute the morality of that moment.

Just like the rest of my Hippy Free Love Brothers and Sisters in California that I have yet to meet will say - you're not part of the problem, you're part of the solution oh or is it the other way around oh who cares man let's drop more LCD.

i have lots of love in me. i love myself. in fact, i love myself almost every night, for about 5 minutes or so, until the love comes streaming out of me. then i wait an hour or so and love myself all over again.

the moment when negan found out carl died was one of the few parts of the episode i actually liked. i think he was genuinely upset over it because he really did see a sort of protege in carl, someone he (wrongly) felt was like him, or could be made to be like him. one of the few moments that character has been brought down from his otherwise cartoonish behaviour.

I actually liked this episode. It was one of those (that I hadn't experienced of this show for a while) in which you're gripped pretty much throughout that it felt like it got 'cut off' rather than actually ended by the time it was over - there was still suspense and riveting enjoyment still going on even as it closed.

Negan's reaction was rather upsetting and everything he said was real. Showed this character as an actual person in this world and how someone of his 'code' would actually react and as you said wasn't a cartoon character overly animated in his behaviour.

so... Negan and the Saviors are on their way to Hilltop, with a plan to scare the rebels into compliance by infecting them a few at a time with the zombie virus. meanwhile, some stranger and her kids (grandkids?) show up to Hilltop, promising to trade valuable information in exchange for some food and vinyl. after a long debate between michonne, maggie and carl's widowed gf about whether to agree to the deal, send them packing, or just steal their stuff, someone says "what would carl do?" and they get all weepy and then agree to the trade because that's what Carl would want... Carl, who died after getting the zombie infection while saving a stranger who turns out to be a doctor.

so, this life-altering knowledge that the woman is promising, that will restore humanity's hope for the future, obviously, is gonna be a cure for the zombie infection, a cure which can only be administered by a doctor like the one Carl saved, arriving just in time to cure the Hilltoppers who get infected by the Saviors, but too late for Carl himself.
right? right?
of course not. it's a book about fucking windmills and aqueducts.

the only way this episode could've been redeemed is if maggie looked at that book and said "windmills? da fuq? we had most of this shit in alexandria already, and it didn't stop some creepy guy with a bat from coming along and killing half our people! we don't need your stupid gardening tips!" and then threw that book back in her face before walking away.

like who doesn't know how windmills work anyway? like it's suddenly some great mystery. how can we possibly harness the power of the wind to make something turn in a circle, hook it up to an alternator and generate electrical current? it's unpossible!

i can't wait for next week's episode, when the Hilltoppers give away half their guns to some guy in clown make-up in exchange for a bunch of ICP lyrics so they can learn about the magical miracle of magnets.

Well a book about how to make/maintain windmills and aqueducts would be incredibly valuable if they lived in a world that didn't have a public library in every single town. :?

And I don't know how a windmill truly works, do you? Like, if you were sitting there at hilltop and thought "We need a windmill to generate electricity" could you make one with no plans/manual/BOOK??????

i'm pretty sure i could. the basic principles are simple. i'm no engineer or electrician, but even i know the basic principle for generating electricity: a coil of wire wrapped around a magnetic material and spun in a circle through a magnetic field creates current. figuring out how to use wind to make that coil spin is easy. it might take some trial and error, but the hardest part is finding the materials... and then again, you've got an electrical generator in every single car left over after the apocalypse. just pull a bunch of alternators out of those cars, and you've got the parts right there.

but even if something like that was too difficult to pull off for someone like me, i'm sure it wouldn't be any trouble for eugene.

maggie: we can has windmillz and aqueductz now!
euguene: that's cute. i'll just be over here, manufacturing bullets and building radio-controlled drone aircraft.

Speculation is high that the new character is someone who was just introduced to the comics....two issues ago. Kind of interesting in that regard. They must be skipping the whole Whisperers storyline, which is fine.

Regarding the Saviors' new gore tactics, one thing that the comics did that made complete sense was to utilize bows and gore-infected arrows. That way they could attack from a distance. Just using knives means that they have to get close....against an armed Hilltop.

i guess they figured out how to use bows and arrows on their own. good for them.

i enjoyed the sequence last night where the surviving hilltoppers started turning into zombies and attacking the others... even if it meant having to overlook the stupidity of them apparently not bothering to post guards or sentries mere hours after being attacked by the saviors. i mean, not even a guard in the infirmary, where even if no one had been bitten, someone still could have died overnight from their wounds and turned zombie by morning. but, for the first time in a long time, this zombie tv show actually felt like a horror film.

of course, it had to be balanced out with one of the stupidest scenes ever on this show, with that dumbass kid taking a gun and unlocking the prisoners looking for the guy who killed his brother. what was this, a tribute to young carl and all the stupid shit he used to do in the early seasons? that kid is this show's Ollie from GoT, and i hope we get to see him hanged and slowly strangle to death the same way.... maybe while zombies are chewing off his feet for good measure. stupid fucking kids. although on this show, age isn't necessarily a prerequisite for stupidity.

Now I'm just going to watch to see how they kill off Rick.
Because after this week's episode.....fuck him.

They set up such a nice, obvious, and simple redemption arc with the escaped Saviors....and then Rick does THAT?

Unless Rick is going to leave and "start over" somewhere else, I don't see how he can continue as a protagonist on this show.

they're just setting up a special Christmas episode, "A Christmas Coral" in which Rick is visited by the Ghosts of Coral Past, Coral Present and Coral Future all in one night in order to redeem his humanity.

i would love it if this show had the balls to actually portray rick as a fallen leader, as a guy who finally went over the edge and became his own version of negan, a guy who finally, in the end, was pushed over to the dark side by the death of his son and an intense need to protect what he has left, to the point of becoming evil and cruel himself. but i really doubt this show has the guts (no pun intended) to go there. like i said, more seriously this time, i think it will be just setup for rick to come to the brink and then draw back and have some kind of moment of redemption where he can become an even more good and righteous leader. it's too bad, because they're done a decent job of setting up maggie to be his successor if he did fall. but i doubt they'll go through with it because this show isn't good enough to do that.

anyways, it's not like rick hasn't already brutally killed people who maybe didn't really need or deserve to die. this episode was just a bit more in-your-face about it. rick probably got home afterwards, read something in carl's letter that made him have feelings about it, and now he'll be a good guy again.

what's funny is people now thinking negan is the good guy. because it's not like he bashed in some guy's head right in front of his pregnant wife or anything, so sure, showing some regret to your captor while strapped to a board waiting to become zombie chow is definitely worth reconsidering his moral character over.

the only good part was maggie's planning a coup. negan should've died and they'll regret not killing him, one way or another. eugene's twist was predictable, rick's a pussy, and it's time grizzly momma maggie took over and give the group some balls again.

The only good part for me was the hour that followed with Fear - which wasn't great, but it was at least interesting. I mean, Maggie Grace as a badass was almost fairly believable.....in a sort of, kind of way.

Maggie's coup-in-waiting is about as much in line with her character as Rick slaughtering the Saviors that helped him out at the barn. I don't recall Jesus agreeing with her (which would be WAY out of character for him), but he was in the room where it happened and didn't speak against it. I'm intrigued to see where next year goes, but not excited.

yeah, i'm not sure why she thought jesus (jesus, just saying his "name" makes me wince) would be down with her revolution plans. he hasn't shown any inclination to seek vengeance or violent solutions against the saviors or negan, if anything he seems to have been more sympathetic toward carl's and rick's ideas of reconciliation. maybe its just because maggie is hilltop queen now and he's basically her #2, and has never been part of rick's group, so she assumed he'd back her. darryl makes more sense, he and rick have been more at odds recently.

i do think maggie turning on rick is in character though. she had to watch negan bash her husband's brains in with a bat right in front of her. that tends to make one feel a bit salty about things. glenn was her tie to rick's group, and he's gone now. she stuck with rick because she wants to pay back negan and thought rick was just as devoted to getting revenge as she was. so now she feels betrayed, and while i dont think she would go in for a whole new war with him, i can see her working behind the scenes to make sure she gets her revenge despite rick's decision. and despite the ominous way that scene was filmed and acted, all she really said was she was gonna show him how he was wrong, not necessarily that she was going to do anything bad or violent to rick himself.

I get the average person quickly devolving to a bloodthirsty revenge path, but....this is still Hershel's daughter. He was THE moral compass of the show during his tenure. I'd love for her to have a flashback to him to where she realizes that her family's core values can somehow still apply. Maybe Hershel can reappear as a Force Ghost.

the final shot of the series:
while everyone is celebrating the final victory of humans over zombies, Rick stares off in the distance to see the approving smiles of Herschel's and Carl's force ghosts as they look on with pride.
and then, a third and final force ghost fades in with a huge grin on his face:

RIP Rick Grimes

I bowed out of the show a season ago, so I don't really care, but I can't honestly see how this series can continue without Rick. Like him or hate him, he's always been the central character, right? With him and Maggie leaving, they have to introduce a new character to take the lead. No way Reedus can carry the mantle (he of the brooding-anti-hero school of acting).

i thought last season was gearing up to having maggie take over, and then the whole finale with maggie secretly plotting against him.... but if maggie's leaving too(?) then i'm not sure where they'd go with this thing. it would just end up turning into Fear the Walking Dead, which admittedly i stopped watching after the horrible season 1. but at least it gives me an out to maybe stop watching this show too.

at least they can stop seesawing between Good Guy Rick and Morally Compromised Rick. and darryl can stop being so wishy-washy. but really, i think the only thing they could do to make this show interesting again would be to make Negan the lead. but if they did, they'd probably pussify him first because having a villain as your lead is just too much of a risk for them.

I thought this season of Fear the Walking Dead was going to be decent, but I checked out after the second episode where they killed one of the main characters. I'm probably done with the main show, too. Watching a show about the main characters trying to overcome the next group of evil humans has really grown stale on me. I still enjoy the zombie genre, but not that aspect anymore. I like the smaller stories. The exploration of the wasteland. Watching groups of Redshirts (plaidshirts?) kill each other each week is just boring.

Yeah, I'm done.

hard to believe this shitty show is in its 9th season.
even harder to believe that i'm still watching it.

only took them about 20 minutes to confirm that everyone in this show is a total moron. i guess it never occurred to any of these geniuses that if you're going to be carrying a whole bunch of heavy shit over a floor made of cracking glass with a bunch of zombies beneath it, maybe it might be a good idea to lay down a length of plywood so that when the floor inevitably busts, no one would go falling through it? but hey, they had ropes tied to them, so at least they can dangle there for a few minutes while they get chewed on.

only took them about 20 minutes to confirm that everyone in this show is a total moron. i guess it never occurred to any of these geniuses that if you're going to be carrying a whole bunch of heavy shit over a floor made of cracking glass with a bunch of zombies beneath it, maybe it might be a good idea to lay down a length of plywood so that when the floor inevitably busts, no one would go falling through it? but hey, they had ropes tied to them, so at least they can dangle there for a few minutes while they get chewed on.

I'm going to watch it through Rick Grimes' departure and then a few episodes after to see where they go with the story. I hated The Whisperers storyline in the comics, so I'm not expecting my thoughts on that to change.

But how do you go into Washington DC for the first time and NOT go to the White House? Even out of morbid curiosity??! And when they went to procure certain things, I was assuming the original copies of the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution. Nope. But hey, they got a wagon! Yeeeee HAW!!!!!!

So I ditched this show a while ago, but I'm curious about the Washington thing. In my head, if the zombie apocalypse occurred, year's later Washington DC would be a thriving community of survivors. Its the capital of our country, all our governement leaders where housed there, tons of military, etc. I'd think tons of people would travel there thinking the government (and troops to protect them) would be there. So when the Grimes and Co went there, was it all abandoned?

well, of course, it's not like anybody could ever figure out how to build a wagon on their own. i mean, you need FOUR WHEELS at least! even those people with their Book of Aqueducts, or Eugene and his bullet-making factory, couldn't figure that one out!

Week 1 - Ezekiel almost gets pulled to his death after falling through a glass floor.

Week 2 - Ezekiel still has 3ft-long dreadlocks.

I understand that the long dreadlocks are how he and Michonne were designed in the comics, but that has to be THE least practical hairstyle in the Walking Dead world.
 on to next week.

first they need to go to DC and break into a barbershop so they can learn to re-invent scissors.

the black dudes are doing well for themselves on this show lately. black men on this show used to get killed off every season; now they get girlfriends instead, even the blind preacher ones. i guess that's progress.
