The greatest TV in history is being made right now. The worst TV in history is being made right now.

Perfect timing, since HBO just released a teaser for season 3:

I like that they're expanding the scope of the show to deal with the outside world, but don't know quite what to make of it yet.

that teaser LOOKS gorgeous. the futuristic conceptual design is very clean and bright, though digital glow dominates over natural light, visually it is a huge change of backdrop for the story to unfold. they have left many doors open to push the story forward thanks to the digital nature of the "reality" where the things takes place. was that trailer an introduction to Delores's human version of Teddy? if the show is going to stay true to the existential reality it has presented so far then this transition into the human world will provide a laboratory of sorts  to show us that humans really are as simple in their code, their drives, in their home environment as the events in season 2 revealed to us. I would love to be a fly on the wall of the writers' room for this show to watch and listen to the intellects and imaginations of those involved in creating it and see how they collaborate to create all the plotlines within the story that serve both a complex overarching philosophical/existential theme as well as being engaging story that relies on an emotional base, a "human" story to give the viewer an a path into that world.

Based on the Pink Floyd song, my bold prediction is that Westworld is actually on the moon. Is that a bit too on the nose?

holy shit, would not that be just the kind of mind fuck twist that Westworld would pull.

btw, Pink Floyd happens to be my favorite group EVAR, so that might add to how much I like that trailer :-P :D

Meh. The original season/concept was pretty damned cool, and worked because it really had an ending. Yes, and open ended ending, but still, like som many other movie properties (The Matrix, I'm looking at you), once they continue to expand and world-build, it gets less and less interesting. This trailer turned into any old sci-fi movie about revolting robots. That scene showing Dolores attacking guards could have been pulled from any Black Widow/Marvel fight scene. That's not what made Westworld so cool. This is completely formulaic. Am I supposed to believe for one fucking second that in the end the robots WON'T 'win'?

Horseshit, horseshit I say!!!!!

EDIT: yes, I'm in a foul mood today, but I stand by my comments.

of course sosorry is left behind by this show. far far behind. stick to the masked singer and 'merica's got talent, sosorry, they are more your speed and won't ask more of your cerebral cortex than it can process.

five episodes in, three episodes left.

holy

shit

the way the show has shifted gears by moving things into the "real" world yet retaining the existential questioning and holding a mirror to humanity with the same sensibility as the first two seasons is beyond satisfying. Delores is the robot queen of our future.

seriously, the show it simply superb. the production quality is fantastic and the talented cast all deliver. I think episode 5 was unlike anything anyone has ever seen on a tv series, in its ideas and its execution.

the ending of episode 5 reshuffled the deck so to speak for the final three episodes to conclude this season. the final three hours are going to be one hell of a ride

season finale was sunday night and it was fucking fantastic. this show just keeps raising the bar and building out a world that great science fiction minds like Ray Bradbury would have loved to be a part of creating, the production quality is outstanding and the acting has been superb as well. top shelf, indubitably
