The 7 Best Simpsons Video Games of All Time Ever.
The Simpsons video games have an unnecessarily bad rep. It’s widely agreed upon, by video game and Simpsons fans alike, that almost all Simpsons games aren’t fun or worth playing, but this is simply not the case. Whether you’re a fan of video games, or just can’t get enough of Evergreen Terrace’s favorite family, there’s a Simpsons game you can wrap your thumbs around. So with The Simpsons film coming out this weekend and yellow fever (the good kind) sweeping the nation, let’s take a look at my definitive list of The 7 Best Simpsons Games of All Time Ever.
______
7. Bart Simpson's Escape from Camp Deadly
Bart Simpson’s Escape from Camp Deadly has everything you remember from your own real life summer camp experience. There’s the capture the flag games in the forest, the cafeterias filled with food throwing counselors and the always popular midnight escape over Mount Deadly. Any real fan would tell you that this game is based on the “Kamp Krustyâ€
I don'ty know the other games but I had many hours (or minutes rather since i was not very powerful) of fun at the simpsons arcade game.
didn't they port it to one of the consoles? SNES? Whatever it was the port was not very good, so I wonder why not jazz up the game a bit, but keep the sidescrolling extravaganza and release it on one of the portable systems? Or even one of the consoles now? Maybe it won't have the very fancy impressive graphics of the Donkey Kong Country or the Megaman, but it could be fun?
So maybe the Simpsons ripped off GTA:3 a little, but who didn’t? So many crappy GTA:3 clones came out and I’m happy to report this clone had actual quality. The game may have sacrificed some of the accuracy of the Virtual Springfield map, but delivered with a fun storyline and awesome missions. You get to play as all of the main characters in a story that takes you to all of your favorite Springfield destinations. The 3-d world feels just right in its level of cartooniness and believability as a Simpsons universe. Except for the carjackings…for some reason it just felt like a hard sell to think of crime being that bad in Springfield. Still, if you’ve never played it pick up a copy of this game at any local game store to enhance any rainy day.
I've got this one! Seriously fun. I've beat all levels, collected all cards, and unlocked the extra race!

sadly, the simpsons arcade game never made it to any consoles- there was a pc versino you can buy but it comes on floppy disks...weak. i'm shocked it's not on xbox live/wii store yet.

Maybe I was thinking of one of the other terrific multiplayer arcade games of the time: that X-Men game or the Ninja Turtles game! Remember those!? It would be my dream to have each of those three arcade games sitting next to a Dragon's Lair machine and a Street Fighter Alpha X4 vs Marvel New Original Marvels game. Does anyone remember Neo Geo? Did anyone have New Geo?

im pretty sure you can put more than one game on a rig assuming it has the same control scheme- i always wanted an arcade game with sunset riders, tmnt, x-men, simpsons, nba jam and nfl blitz...good lord- i would never leave the house.
Everyone was fighting to be Nightcrawler: best power move!!! Colossus was very good too but it didn't make a lot of sense that he would somehow become so very shiny and all the enemies around him got hurt from the shininess... I always cockblocked people into playing as Dazzler, they were angry!

dazzler was one of the worst characters in that, or any game of all time ever.

Would you go so far as to call her the... worst superhero ever?
Those multi-player platform fighters did get pretty repetitive after a while (Gauntlet and Gauntlet 2 are still the best), but I liked how you could team up with other players for special moves in the Simpsons coin-op.
And hey, it was right on the cusp of Simpsons-mania, so it was cool to play the characters and hear the voices coming from the machine.

Simpsons games are shit, half-baked rip-offs. Do you remember how expensive games used to be way back in the early '90s? They were more expensive than they are now, and that doesn't even include interest.
Now imagine being an unsuspecting youngster, saving up for weeks, just to spend all your hard-earned money on Krusty's "fun" house...
Not to mention that game which had a flakily animated Bart walking through a street, jumping over grandmas, and trying not to skate into postboxes.

Those two almost put me off games forever.
yeah, but you can't judge a franchise on two games- that's ridiculous. the whole point of this list is to say that out of 25+ games, it's crazy to write off every title (besides arcade, the obvious #1) as suck. there's some good stuff out there.
I agree with Sepp, some of the Simpsons games were truly, mindbogglingly atrocious. I'd like someone to explain the merits of the arcade beat 'em up tho, is it/was it really that good? I liked the simpsons GTA rip off but it wasn't exactly "great" either.

Exactly.
You know why theres a list of only seven games? Because there have only been seven passable Simpsons games! And I would consider half of those anything but great.
Know what might be cool? A 'Half-Life' parody game starring the Simpsons. The nuclear plant melts down, weird Carl Carlson mutants start roaming the place, and Homer needs to go save the day by shooting everybody in the head.

I remember when Simpsons video game Bart vs. The Space Mutants came out I was all excited about it and whenever I went to the video store with my family it was all rented out. Finally, one day, it was in and I was sooooo excited to finally be able to play it. But when I popped it into my NES, it turned out the object of the game was to spraypaint stuff. Lame. I spent most of the time I had it making prank calls to Moe.
"Alright Shaggy - you and Scooby head over that way. The girls and I will go this way."
Has anyone tried out the mobile game? You get to run around with your favorite characters in familiar settings solving basic puzzles and avoiding hazardous obstacles. It’s old school, nostalgic and you can play it on the can- trifecta of gaming goodness. http://eamobile.com/simpsons
Anyway, I found a trailer for the new game which should put a smile on your face...(The fact it has Ralph Wiggum hobbits and Maggie the elf makes me happy)-
